Fidalgo Bay - March Pt.
year round Raking. East of the Shell Oil pier and north of the Railroad Bridge on the east shore of Fidalgo Bay.
Cap Sante & Skyline Marinas winter Jigging.
LACONNER WATERFRONT Oct.-March Jigging off floats. Best jigging in the northern boat basin. Annual Smelt Derby in February.
SAN JUAN ISLANDS
Hunter Bay Co. Pk., Lopez I.
year round Raking on the DNR public beach immediately east of the County Park launch ramp. Year round spawning stock.
WHIDBEY ISLAND
Coupeville Waterfront
June- Oct. Raking. Coupeville waterfront and areas to the east, mostly boat access.
Cornet Bay year round Jigging mixed baitfish off state park docks.
CAMANO ISLAND
Camp Grande
Grove Co. Pk.
June-Oct. Raking. The most famous of the "classic" smelt fishing Maple areas, now almost closed to the public.
Cavelero's Beach June-Oct. Raking. Many potential sites on the eastern shore between Triangle Cove and Camano Head.
LIBERTY BAY

Oct.-Feb. Raking. Small spots at the southern edge of town. Mostly private, poor parking.

SINCLAIR INLET

Oct.-Feb. Raking. WDF purchased public smelt beach. One mile west of the town of Port Orchard. Limited parking and no facilities. Some smelt spawning occurs year round, with winter peak of activity.
QUARTERMASTER HARBOR

Oct.-Feb. Raking. North side of the point to the launch ramp.
GIG HARBOR Oct.-March Possible raking on the beach fronting the launch ramp at Randle Street.
SOUTH SOUND
Percival Landing, Olympia
winter Occasional concentrations of smelt and herring taken while jigging and dip-netting.
Priest Point Park, Olympia
Burfoot Co. Pk. Budd Inlet
Sept.-Feb. Raking. Probably other little known spots among the many miles of spawning beach in Henderson, Budd, Eld and Totten Inlets.
SOUTHERN HOOD CANAL

Sept.-Feb. Raking on the east and west edges of the park where Happy unaltered beach remains. Documented spawning season has been extended. Check park regulations for late evening use. Currently all other fishing areas are subject to trespass violation.

COLUMBIA RIVER Jan-March Consult the Battleground Office for the latest dipping information. Fishing in the Lewis, Kalama and other local rivers.
NOOKSACK RIVER winter Dipping along the river bank downstream from Ferndale. Smelt are "hooligans" or longfin smelt
