First, the rod is really short and the general 'rule of thumb' for Skagit lines is 3-3.5 times the length of the rod (leader included). That said, my .02 cents only, is a skagit head on this short of a rod would be a waste of $$. If getting down 'deep and dirty' is the point, I'd look at the Teeny (sp?)sink tip lines. They come in flavors from 100 grains to 400, and trust me the 400 sinks like a rock! With out hitting 'Google' to check the info most of the heads are about 26' long and would/could be a great match for this rod regardless of 'one handed' or 2 hander casting. Fred |
