What's your 'target fish?' Just because you mention the 'Salmon River,' doesn't mean you're not targeting another fish. We've a fly shop here in Ashland (Oregon) that carries a wide selection of flies I rather doubt you'd see in your area. All are highly effective (Otis Bug, Intruders, Agent Orange, etc.)for steelhead.

The other thing I've found are a few Atlantic Salmon patterns have been 'killers' for PNW steelhead. Two you want to look up are the 'Flame Thrower' and 'Volcano.' Tied on a silver Salar double ..... OH BABY!
