My suggestion is to contact Poppy at the Red Shed (do a google or contact him through this board). He is what I would consider a world class expert on lining rods. He also has a wide selection of both new and used 2 handers available at his shop. I'm not sure an 82 foot DT 7/8 is ideal for any spey rod. Do you know how many grains the line weighs? That would help. It might be better to actually cut it and splice it to a running line, but I don't know how to do that effectivley with silk lines. Your best bet may be to go buy a RIO spey line that fits a rod that fits your fishing style. Silk lines are something of a collectors item, and require a bunch of dressing to fish correctly. That is a lot like work, and fishing should be fun...
