777 only. Never used sabots, so I'm no help there.

Ryan,

I have a bunch of blackpowder stuff left over from when I used to do it. It's yours if you want it.
I used pyrodex. I'll dig it out and let you know what I have.

Re: New Smokepole

I know last year I borrowed a buddies gun, and used 130grs of pyrodex pellets, with a 240grn Polymer Tip Sabot. Worked well with his gun. I am going to have to try some stuff, and see what works.

Cool deal on the new Smokepole. My friend uses 777 and only shoots solids as well.

good luck

I got it from a buddy who has his FFL. Out the door for $294. Which when I looked online, they were going for $420. I can't wait to shoot it.

Re: New Smokepole

I shot 3 60 grain pyrodex pellets with a 235 grain powerbelt at both elk and deer when it was legal here. I am not saying that you need to shoot that much powder but out of my knight it shot flat, it was accurate and it hit very hard. I havn't seen a whole lot of guns that won't shoot powerbelts pretty well.

Whatever you decide to start with I would suggest putting a set of mounts and a scope on that thing. I realize some guys can shoot out to 100 yards very well with open sights, but it's hard to beat a scope when you are specifically trying to find what shoots the best out of your smoke pole. Since I've started doing that, I have way more confidence in what my gun can do, I know it will shoot better than I can with open sights.
