Performance!
|
|
A little something from the June '09 issue of Popular Mechanics, they did a road test of US built perfomance cars and for your information here are the 1/4 mile times and trap speeds...
Dodge Challenger R/T 14.44 seconds @ 97.12 MPH
Ford Mustang GT 13.93 seconds @ 101.42 MPH
Chevrolet Camaro SS 13.02 seconds @ 111.40 MPH
If you would like to read this for yourself this should be on the newstands now and will be easy to find by looking at the upper right hand corner of the cover for the small photo of a spinning rear wheel and the words CAMARO SMOKES EM!

Clearly an unbiased test, the top of the line Camaro against the low end Dodge and Ford. I wonder if Government Motors has anything to do with the test.

I say, test the GT500KR, the Challenger SRT-8, The Corvette, the Camaro & the Pontiac G8 GXP in an old fashioned 1/4 mile drag race. Hell, throw a Dodge Viper in for good measure too.
Don't get me wrong 13.02 is pretty respectable

I'd put my bet on the blue oval so long as it was the GT500KR.

Whoops, I forgot to add the GT40. Same motor as the GT500. The KR I believe ir rated at 540.
My GF's GT500 has the factory Ford PowerPak and is rated at 540HP

The Pontiac and the 'Vette were in the articile too. I don't think they are building Vipers any more. BTW, I'm not saying I'm biased or anything but I bleed Chevrolet orange.
