Ok, here's the Plan. Cowtilla 2009, Barrier Dam Camp Ground July 23rd thru 26th. Most will arrive on Friday the 25th. If you want an RV Site, Call Karen and reserve it. 1-360-985-2495 Plenty of Tent Sites, no need for reservation, as we will have the whole field again. RV Site, $28.00 per night, Tent Site $18.00 per Night. We can have the covered area for the Kitchen, it's $25.00 for the whole weekend. I'll probably pay that up on Thursday when I get there. Also, remember we need to pitch in and give Jerry some help this year with $$ and Kitchen Biotch Assistance...
SO WHO'S IN, LETS GET THIS THING ROLLING. I'LL KEEP TRACK ON WHO'S BRINGING THE BIG ITEMS THAT WE ALWAYS NEED AND KEEP THIS INFO UP-DATED...
FireFish Out...
Marty can we keep this pinned at the Top....

What? Who me? How the hell was I roped into this????? Who said I cook???? I'm a missing something here?
Ok, I'll be ready and raring to go. Have a few new goodies to spring on you all. Gonna bring my smoker with too. So, who's up for ribeyes, ribs, stuffed jalapenos????? And of course the usual (beer batter onion rings, fries, etc). Got the fries down better too. Just depends if we can keep the vultures away from them that long (you fry them twice to get that crisp outer and that soft inner, just frying once makes them soggy).
When it gets closer, we'll go from there. Slab of ribeyes runs around $80-95 depending on weight (can get a good 50 steaks out of one of them, 40 if we cut thick). I toss them into the smoker before we hit the river at around 200, and let them smoke all day. Then cut/cook to order.
Will have driftboat in tow. Not sure if it'll be me and Rivergal only, or will be bringing Brad again (he really wants to go). But this is the one trip that's for the adults. But we'll see.

Oh, and what Duanne is saying, it's easier if I do a group buy for the food, rather then so many bring spuds, so many onions, etc etc etc. Before we know it, I'll have 40 bags of each, but nothing else (happened last year). Always can use oil of course. But nice to buy the meats we'll eat all at once. I'll make my dryrub and toss on the pork (and hopefully get some of caughtstealin's rub for the ribeyes/beef). I'll probably come down Friday after work, unless they can schedule me out that day. I doubt I'll get it off, but hoping I do.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure how many we'll have, if any. It's really hit or miss. Depending on leaves, if the guys get reassigned to their units or discharged from the service. So I won't know how many we'll have until probably the last minute. We had a great group of guys, and all 7 are now gone back home across the US (well a couple are still here, but no longer in military). So will let you know when time gets closer.

Just a few weeks out. Here is who I have so far, based on previous Post...
ElWood P 11BravoInfantry DogFish WFFF TexMojo Goose NW CowBoy CaughtSteelin DesertDog FJ & Crew SalmonKing RiverWolf BigCat
I know there are more, M and Mike where the Hell are ya. Jerry, unsure and or if you think you will be there for Saturday. With that folks, we need to plan Saturday and if Jerry can't make it (understandably so...) we need to make sure we have enough to get the job done. So who's bringing what. Start adding it in here and I'll keep the list going for pearsons attending and things that will be brought. Oh, and I'm sure the master of ceremonies will attend, right Marty...
Also, me and RedHook should have an Empty seat in the D/B so as to fish with a couple different folks this year. Waiting to see if any of our Idaho Boys are coming over. Probably not Luv, as he's a puss....
Remember the Dates are July 24, 25, 26, with the Big Food Fest on Saturday the 25th. I and a hand full of others should be there the 24th to get an early start...

I won't know probably until late next week. We're waiting for a few other things to happen with my Dad and his wishes. I may be busy with the final part of his wishes that weekend. Which will put me at the wrong area of the state. If I can't make it, will be my first Cowtilla I'll miss. But the last thing we have to do, we want to be able to do it while my little sister is still here from Arizona. So hopefully I'll know more by the 17th.

My plans have changed somewhat in that I am not bringing my sled so I will be looking for a seat as well. Family will be off doing other things. I don't think the Seahawk would work out so well with flows at 2500 but it will chase the Salmon on the Salt.(maybe Tunas' too)

Talked to the Karen @ the Barrier dam campground yesterday, Sofar FJ is the only one signed up for a campsite, where's everyone else going to camp?
They (the Barrier dam campground)would like an idea of the number of campers?
Please call Karen @ (360)985-2495 and let her know if you want a campsite in the campground, or are planning to camp in the group area in the field?
I'm heading back over Sunday night and won't be around a computer this week, get ahold of Firefish if you got questions.

Bob, I thought I read somewhere that if you plan on using the group area, no reservation was required. Only if you were using a rv site. I could be wrong but maybe thats why no one has contacted her.

The last time I spoke with Karen, she did say that no reservation is required for the field group with no hook-ups. In saying that, I'm sure, as Bob pointed out, that she would like a number of how many we may have in that group area. So get on here and let me know what you plan to do. I will call Karen tomorrow and then let her know by Wednesday Morning about how many we might have. Post your info here and I'll keep a count. Also, waiting to hear from Jerry so I know if we want to rent the covered cooking area for the camp kitchen set up. We can build this as big or little as we need to, I just need the info. Looking forward to it....

Me and RedHook will be down Thursday. Fishing Thursday evening and Friday. I'll have MickeyFinn and one open seat in the D/B on Saturday. Send me a pm if you want to fish. Always enjoy the opportunity to fish site members out of the boat and you can help me keep Mickey entertained...

We could use some peanut oil for the fryer setup. I dont have ready access to it locally. I have some of jerrys old setup cooking equipment that I will bring down and my fryer.
Will bring some king salmon from my ak trip this year. Planning on camping in the field this year with a tent or two in our group.

Same thing here. We wanted to come down for Saturday afternoon. Should I bring HC shrimp? We won't have Jerry or Doug to batter/fry them and I'm not about to shell that many by myself. We could do them the old fashioned way... deep fry in the shell and peel while they're hot... tasty but burned fingers!

YUUMMMIE, HC Shrimp! We boil them up and peel and eat all the time. A little melted butter and some fresh squeezed lemon and maybe some cocktail sauce. But, we don't have enough left to bring at a big get-together. But, we sure can eat all of yours Aunty.
Getting myself all hungry now so it's Shrimp tonight for dinner here!

fp, you might find deep frying them in the shell to be superior to boiling because they retain more flavor and have a better texture.
Can still do the butter and garlic dip too...

I think Marty said he would be bringing a deep fryer and oil. Just to make sure, if you have a deep fryer bring it. As always we need all the tables, chairs and awnings or EZ-Ups, that people care to bring. If you have room, bring it I'm sure it will be used. I will have some firewood for the main pit in the corner. We'll set most of the cooking stuff up in the corner, covered area like last year. I'll have an extra bag of potatoes for fries and onions for rings. Others came bring the same as we go through a lot of it. As for the Saturday feed, we always have HC Shrimp, so M... I would hate to be with out. Others can bring meat and poultry products. Chips, Beer, Potato salads, if you have a way to make sure they stay nice and cold. Don't need anyone getting sick. I will put up another post, final one. It will be a list of what your bringing. Everyone can add to it and I'll have a good idea of what we have and what we might need. I would do it here, but going back through all the previous info would be time consuming...

it was a great time for sure.
i would like to thank all who helped put this together and brought and cooked the food (could have been more veggies).
firefish. thank you fro all the time you put into this event.
fishieness thank you for bringing the young drunk guys that were so intertaning.
FJ thanks for the long talks. i know it's been hard on you but i think it's time to come out of the closet and look your friends in the eye and tell them "i don't want to hurt the little sea kittens any more" they will only judge you for a short time and many will join you when they see the courage you have displayed. be strong moon brother.
but mostly i would like to thank Texs & Grimm for a memorable night. i never thought in my wildest dreams two men could make me feel like that. you guys are studs. next year maybe you will let me join you two instead of making me watch.
what a time. only hope more make it next year. until then peace love and KY.

I don't know what your talking about sunshine, carnage was had before you showed up and the the carnage will continue as soon as tomorrow. I know what it is...sunshine hasn't been able to hook a fish in a long while. I'll take you out Sunshine and you can be the one one puttin the wood to em.
A good time was had by all! I'm wondering what the future holds for these tillas with so many of you not there. The hardcore showed up and you know who you are. We may have to start planning these trips "for the hardcore only" like the cool kids over at PP and then blow all those that stayed home out of the water with over the top posts including pictures and video. PM me if you think your hardcore material and we'll talk about future trips.
Good to visit with ya'll...

I guess I missed all the real action by going to bed early. Judging from FriendofPETA's report, I can't say I regret it.
Seriously though some fish were caught, I think every boat got a least one. When you get a hardcore group like this together I guess nobody takes photos or videos because we've all done so many of....

I am not hardcore. I didn't even fish last year. I went camping at Barrier Dam where a bunch of pals were hanging out instead.
I guess I will no longer get invited.
If that's the way you guys want to be, I'll just head east and fish with Dances.

Been extremely busy since the Tilla, not much on-line time. All in all, it was a good time. As mentioned, way down on numbers, but it was a tough year to get a big turn-out. As FJ mentioned, the truly dedicated diehards were there on Thursday as per the norm. RedHook and myself showed up and set up camp. Got out for a couple hours that evening and RedHook boated a nice little Steelie. Then we fished Friday and got into a couple fish. Fishing was tough, unless your Bob, but we managed a couple. The food was plentiful. Marty and I were laughing because no matter how big or small the group, with these folks, there is always way to much. Of course we finished it off with a very large breakfast on Sunday, thanks to all those who jumped in and helped. Big thanks to Grimm Reaper for Saturday, picking up most of the Deep-Fry Duties, and for anyone else who had a grill or a stove going. That's what makes this thing work. I think FJ and Crew probably hit the most fish. I didn't feel to bad, we went 5 for 9 in the Drift Boat over the couple days. I was also able to put one of my other brothers into a couple fish on Saturday, which are only the 2nd and 3rd steelhead of his life. His first was out of the boat about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Nice job Bryan... He's kinda of getting into this fishin thing now. Rumor has it that MickeyFinn will have him down on the Puyallup in a few weeks, harvesting Humpie Eggs. Speaking of the Finn, he was there in full force, managed to lose a fish and received crap from his newest fishing partner, the rest of the weekend. Mickey also seemed a little lost, as he wondered around, looking for Brewer, hoping to reignite the Bro-Mance. Mickey was highly disapointed when he found out the Brewer doesn't attend the CowTilla, then he drank a beer and he was over it... Here ya go Brewer, an actual pic with a couple fish from the Tilla. These are the ones my brother got Saturday... [/image]
