Come on everyone brighten my day! Vacation has been cancelled for this summer and I need to hear some of what happened at the MadCow this weekend. Sure enjoyed fishing with Mr and Mrs BuxnDux on Friday evening, and Marty we are actually getting closer now to meeting each other! As for the moderator FJ the Low Holeing SOB, should be fired from anything to do with Fishin! Just kiddin, but he did interrupt the best trout fishing spot on the river. We had them trout dialed in!
Can't wait to hear the rest...................

Well...as for our team...on Saturday we had
"Captain Caveman", fondly known as "Cavey"
with his trusty sidekick
AuntyM.
Passengers included, The Brewer, The Pants and The 2 Princesses.
AuntyM had a brilliant showdown with a smolt. He was a frisky little bugger...and cute as a button!! She next hooked into a cutthroat trout, and boy did he put on an exciting fight! AuntyM put the muscles to the test and reeled his sorry butt up onto the bow. We sure are proud of her!
AuntyM had all of us onboard happy as a lark for her extraordinary success, but at the same time, jealous as heck! The next fight was another cutthroat trout, hooked by The Pants and reeled in by the littlest Princess.
Women 3....guys 0
The food was abundant and deliciously wonderful!
To list the highlights...Shrimp, Salmon, Sturgeon, Steelhead, Oysters, BBQ Ribs, homebrew, and to top it off...Smores around the campfire!
We had a great time and enjoyed meeting all of you.

I went there with my two boys and all had a great time. Hunter, age 7, got his first steelhead thanks to Gooose and Desert Dog. The highlight for Ryan, age 4, was burning marshmallows in the fire and sleeping outside in a tent in a sleeping bag.
I ate some great food, drank some great beer, and met some great people for the first time after talking with them for a few years over the boards.
Andy
Oh yeah, Marty, I have your eggs. Let me know how you want me to get them to you.

Well, for you who missed it ya missed a good time.
Was very enjoyable to meet a bunch of you who I have chatted with several times. Ya's some nice people.
My story is very a very good time. We met Rapid Robert at the ramp at 5:00ish and waited for somebody that did finally"no-show" and got a little behing the pack, that 35th water is tough!!!!
After several drifts we managed to end up with 4 landed and one lost. Boy, it was a biggun' that got tangled in some of that "hard-line" doc left in the hole. Doc, I'm lookin' fer ya!!!!!!!!
Now, back to fishin' We whooped on some mighty fine smolts and a few Cutthroats and 1 nice Bugle-Mouthed Trout. Nobody would take the hand-off so I had to fight the Bugle for several seconds and even take it off the hook by myself. My guide wouldn't even do it for me. There went his tip!!
It was nice to fish with Robert, Timber and bux-n-dux for the day. I thank you all for putting up with me and my "short leaders". Timber, thanks for tying them for me. ha
Ihadagoodtimew/u
BTW. Did anybody lose their bananas? It didn't work for us very good.

Had a great time and met some new faces to put to the names. Fished with FS and Trailrat Sat morning and made the mistake of showing TR my zipper spot which was quickly brought up at the campfire, is nothing sacred? BTW, Craven the pic was hilarious. We were on track with the fish and team lizard hooked its share of cutties as did most of the other boats. Sunday....hmmm....sunday....dont remember much....woke up (late) puked, took the boat down with gooose and ron1 for one long drift, scraped bottom twice with kicker, took boat back up, hooked ron1 up with fishon grahn (thanks Mike) banged the sh!t out of my pump on "the corner", put boat up, puked again, and went to sleep. Gooose and Ron1, I cant appologize enough, we will do it again soon, and this time we will do it right, again sorry.
All in all a great time with great food and great people, thanks for the good weekend and hope to do it again soon.
Now time for about 12 hours of sleep.

Hey I just wanted to tell u guys got some great pics of fish. Its good to know some people are getting into the fish on the Cowlitz. I'm new to the site so I'm still getting to know people on here. Hopefully by next year I'll know enough site members to tag along, thats if the cowtilla is a yearly thing. Read about great food, nice people and chrome fish what can be better than a weekend of that. By the way if anyone wants to know fishing was pretty good this weekend (just South of there) . Limited out today in 15mins. Hopefully I'll get my scanner fixed and download them.

Well, well well! Were do I start. First off, I would like to send my appreciation out to Fishdoc for hooking the wife and I up on Friday night. You sure went out of your way. Next would be too Bob (Rapid Robert) for allowing me to fish with him on Saturday. The same trip I would like to say thanks to Ischool4U for showing us how it was done and to Timber for showing me how to lose gear He wouldn't tie my gear for me but I think it was cause he was to busy tying his own
Now for Saturday night. Since I wasn't there I am sure there are some good stories that I need to hear. But maybe I do not want to hear them The Taker filled me in a few. A great big thank you goes out to WildOutdoorsman for taking my wife fishing Sunday morning. She had a really great time!
I met alot of cool people, it is always nice to faces and real names with the monikers!
Till next garage sale, ahh I mean tilla!

Was a fun time. Wasn't able to come down until late morning on Saturday, and had to leave early Sunday. But RG and I had alot of fun. Nice to see some old friends, and meet some friends that I only knew by a moniker.
Would've been nice to hang out more. The jigswap got a big FUBAR'd. Spent all day on the cooker (but better then lounging at home drugged up, well, let me think about that lol). But, next year hope to be actually able to fish, but still will run the cooker as well. LOL
Next year, somebody put an order for weather we had last cowtilla, ok???

Great time again good to see old friends and make some new ones. Thanks to Marsha for last minute boat rides, and to everyone for all the great food and entertainment, like the way Caveman spun the boat and I ended up in the lap of that young woman and FJ for throwing that wake on us so I got a bath. I could go on and on but heck we will just do it again soon... Don

I had a great time as usual.. Special thanks for the boat rides (fj, DD, Wildoutdoorsman) Another special thanks to group who helped load the large Yamaha into the gooose mobile. (bux, shrambo, rl, alex, dd, goose).... And another to everybody who helped in food, tents, fires, signs.
Had a really good time...
Enjoyed seeing some new faces and always a pleasure seeing the old friends again. Sure I will think of more after a solid sleep..... remind me to bring two tents so I can sleep away from the party and have a decoy.

Well Bux I had arranged for Friday off, which I was able to get. I woke up Fri morning with a Migraine, and a sinus thing going on,(good thing I had the day off) not the start I wanted !!). As the morning progressed, so did my Migraine! At that point I knew, It did not look good, and I did not feel like a 3 hr drive.I attempted cell communication to my rides, with no success. I called the motel where one of them was staying and passed along the info. I wanted to go, and had the truck packed, but just did not feel to good! I have some other personal issues which I will keep to myself, but also affected my decision to stay home! Anyways, I felt a little better Sat morn, but still not enough to make the cruise. By Saturday late afternoon, I was jonesin to camp, and fish, but the Cow seemed way too far,so since the truck was already packed, I decided on a overnighter to the Upper Sky wilderness area.(much closer to home) I set up camp, fished, took Smokey for a lesson on "swimmin in the current", I had him tied around my waste while fishing, and let him venture as I was, except he is slightly shorter than me, so he got better at swimming. Then I bagged the fishing, and just made it a swimmin lesson day for my dog. I built a nice fire, cooked some grub, watched the glacier water roll down hill, then it started rainin hard, so moved to the tent, and watched a few dvd movies on the laptop, and munched out on brownies, cookies, and fell asleep with a wet dogs nose stuffed inside my sleeping bag with me. I am bummed I did not make it, but that is just "life". I am glad everyone had a good time, I knew Ya'All would!
98043 Thanks for the boat ride offer, I appreciate it, Fishon same deal, sorry I could not make it, fellas Wildoutdoorsman,... You have a package in route
The weather sucked, I felt like crap, and I missed my favorite Flotilla, ah well, hopefully I will make the next one! Sorry I missed the new faces in the crowd, was looking forward to meeting and seeing everyone again.
I did one other Flotilla when I was sick,(Chehalis) and it was miserable, so decided to not repeat that feeling.
I STILL have a big 0, in case anyone is wonderin

Bama- That sounds like a blast, I may not be able to make it out for the weekend fishery but could certainly make it up for the eve to b.s. and drink some beer... Let's try and plan on that, I'd love it. Do it sometime around mid-july when the river should be stuffed with fish... Keith

Gooose pretty well summed it up!
Thank You 98043. Sweet ride! Kelly and Alex!Been a very long time since someone handed me a baited up rod and said "cast there" That was pretty cool. I will try and find some way to pay you back. Perhaps a little trolling on the Sound?
