....its pouring rain, a workmate says "the weather this weekend is more of the same and it sucks!" you respond with it looks outstanding and i can't wait to steelhead fish ALL weekend in it...
orrrr, you've been standing in the rain for hours in a steady squal, then the clouds really open up. the dimplets are the size of golfballs...and it puts a smile on your face.

A daytime high above 0 is warm. (without windchill)
You start leadin your cast into the wind by how horizontal the snow is falling.
You carry a propane torch in the truck to thaw your wading boot laces out.
Ain't no "Might" about it... I am a Winter Steelie fisherman...

when you know how much rain has fallen over the last 5 hours by taking your ruler out and checking the depth of water in your boat.
when you carry a can of PAM in your boat so you can spray the eyes of your pole so they won't freeze up.

You float a river you've never even thought about, that is flowing too low for your boat and is 3 hours away, just because someone said thier buddy has been catching fish in it

You spend 6 hrs fishing in the wind and rain, Hiking in 1/2mile through mud and brambles on crutches (had surgery on the 10th on my ankle), only to spring a leak in my wader leg that has my cast in, to fish.

I did the cast thing when I was 15. Full leg cast dragging a 20 Chinook back to my stuff where I hooked it. My friends were taking bets if I would make it back.
When you build 4 new rods when your 5 other rods work just fine.
Spend $30 on corkies and bitch about the price of bait.

you drive from yakima over hw12 in a total whiteout blizzard. drive over or around fallen trees and rock slides, all along jamming to rush and pink floyd. 4hrs later and finally walk into BC and somebody mutters out loud, sh*t, that pass must be open, there they are... dam its good to be home on the cow.

Maybe Brewer, but try it pulling a 21' sled  ....I used to never even think about it till one Super Bowl Sunday in '96....ended up costing my insurance company $19,000.....these days I leave the sled @ the Cow in covered storage during winter run season.

While trying to land the 3rd steelhead of the morning after hooking 15 which have torn you up in 32 degree weather, in winds of 20 MPH with constant heavy lake michigan lake effect snow squalls, as you bring the 10 lber to the beach with one last slow pull on your fly rod while walking backwards, the steelhead does the final big head shake and run, breaking your leader which you have been leaning back on while standing in a black michigan muck bar. You instantly fall face first into the muck and come out looking like "The Creature from the Black Lagoon". Your freezing but there are still 10-20 fresh run steelhead in the pool with no one else around.
You continue fishing while freezing and shivering for another two hours hooking 5 more and landing one as the weather worsens further.
You walk a mile through the forest to your car drive to the motel, change clothes, and go to the laundromat and wash your vest and other outer clothes.
You are back on the river within 2 hours after them again.
I may be a winter steelheader ?

It's pouring buckets, the web says that all the rivers west of Montana are blown out and you go to BC cause with 4 oz. weights you can still fish. Yea, I was there yesterday.
