Received word this morning that this past thursday there was a cleansing of the WDFW Commission. Roehl and Ozment are still there as they were previously confirmed by the Senate. Chew and McBrayer were reappointed. The remainder have been thanked for their service and removed from the commission. Stay tuned.

Well, let's see if I can predict at least one of the new Commissioners. He has a law degree and a fisheries degree and posts on this board occasionally.

Hundreds more qualified in your opinion, not mine. 
We need a sportfishing advocate as WDFW Director every bit as much as we need more sportfishing advocates on the Commission. Todd is that and more. The only way to break the cycle of tribal/commercial priority in this state is to put the right people in the right positions.
But hey, what do I know?

Theres alot more to a WDFW director than just someone to push work fishing issues.They need to understand the wildlife issues as well.If I was to pick a director based on fisheries issues it sure wouldnt be someone with a simple BA.And that doesnt even hold a job in fisheries
management.Like Todd. I would put Tony Floor in there in a heartbeat though.

The job is a management job. Not just science. One also has to be well versed in law these days, to be good at it. Todd has a background in two of the three and is quite personable and I think capable.
Don't we employ "biologists" for expertise and managers to make smart decisions? The agency could be run by someone with a management background alone. I wonder if a search for Koenigs replacement is occuring right now?
A candidate from the midwest would be OK by me too. Someone who has the mindset that commercials should only get what the sport can't harvest.
All Koenigs ever did as far as I am concerned, was to protect and defend "commercialization" of our dwindling fisheries with his "Fisheries" background.
With Locke as Governor, that never would have changed. So much of our fisheries resources are sold in the Asian market, it's an insult.

If thats the case Im sure I have far more management experiance than Todd does.But I think its far more than just a management job. In my opinion management without knowalage of what your manageing is not a good thing.
Aunty in your push for Todd for WDFW director maybe you should ask what Todd does for a living right now and why.
