10 year old Golden Circle that has been pretty highly upgraded and modified to my person taste. Killed lots of elk with it so I am partial to it! I actually have three of them! Tough to find a new bow that fits us finger shooters (a dying breed)since everyone is going to the shorter is better theory

a 12 year old Martin cant even remember what it originally was since Im on my 3rd set of limbs. 70#'s Weighs about 100#'s (atleast it feels like it) But it still shoots sweet. Im getting closer and closer every year to buying a new one. Im a finger shooter too, cravins right hard to find a right fit.

I haven't seen that beauty in person yet. It looks like it's the same size as the Outback with a lot more speed. I really like the 7" brace height. If it's as smooth and forgiving as the Outback with that much speed. oo la la

I almost sprung for the Outback last year, but I am kind of a speed monger. The Switchback sounds like the shizznit, that new cam is something I need to look at. The cam on my LX is about the size of a pie plate. Every year they make better bows and it gets me all worked up, I thought the Q2 was the only bow for me, HA!!!

Hey Ron, you will like that Enticer it's a little older but still a good bow. And it sounds like it was outfitted well. Can't go wrong with the Trophy Taker.

Hey sky the outback looks nice too. A little cheaper as well. I heard they were going to do a buy back program where you can trade up your bow every year because of how fast they change. Its still hard to beat an lx though.

KK, well I went down and fondeled the Switchback yesterday what a sweet rig that is. I shot it about 15 times and it chronied at 273 fps with a 321 gr carbon express and 100 gr tip.My LX was at 268 with the same arrow. This bow is quiet also I liked the double dampers on the Cable roller arm. The cobra cam is even bigger than the LX and Outbacks cams with a double perimeter weight instead of a single. I only shot it a few times but this is one of the better bows I have had in my hands.Quiet, fast smooth and no hand shock.

I have an 8 year old Martin hunting compound and a couple of 15 year old York target compound bows from when I shot in the old NFAA Pro-BHFS division for York. I'd still have my 15 year old hunting bows except, a tweaker broke out a window of my canopy and took them 8 years ago! I bought a Martin because I have a few friends who shoot for them. More trivia...not that you are interested , I took my first trip to WA in 1988 when I shot the NFAA Nationals and World in Darrington. At that time, I was shooting for Hoyt. How did I do? I had two different bows delaminate one limb. One was wood/fiberglass the other the old carbon fiber/foam laminate. Hoyt fixed the limbs on site, but I lost too many points trying to figure out what the heck was going on before the limbs collapsed. Both were really loud! All I can think was the plane cargo area must of depressurized or something on the way up from TN. I'm pretty sure I shot a perfect score on the Animal round that year. Otherwise, my performance was very below normal.

Got a Mathews legacy with a shakey hunter rest and Copper John Dead nuts sights. Pretty awesome shooting bow. Not as fast as the Z-max I replaced, but definately smooth and quiet.

This is an old thread, but I'll see what we can stir up anyway. My 18 year old Browing needs replaced and I'm window shopping. If you were in the market for a new bow (primarily for elk) what would you buy? I'm looking for a fast quiet compound, 60-70# draw, that is accurate and won't break the bank. Thanks,

Go to a dealer that has a range and try a few. Major brands like fishing reels/rods are easier to find parts for. You don't need the most expensive bow, but you need a good durable bow with durable accessories. In general, the more high performance bows aren't as durable and are harder to shoot accurately. I don't really have a brand preference, but since Martins are made in Walla Walla, WA, I'd lean that way.

Eatmon 66" recurve weighing in at 62#. Nice bow! Been shooting Eatmon bows for over 20 years. Have taken elk, deer, bear, turkey, grouse and even a coyote with them. Quit using wood arrows about 6 years ago. I now shoot swaged 2213 out of it and they fly straight and true. I use Buck or Zwikey Eskimos for broadheads at 125 grains. If you have not shot traditional equipment I suggest you give it a whirl. It puts the fun back in archery.

I'm shooting a bowtech allegiance with the bianary cam system..this bow is super sweet and really fast ..i shot my first buck with it this early archery season..its equipped with a quick load whisker buiscut and trophy ridge guide series sights ..i shoot beman ics hunters out of it and it is really really accurate ..i hunt with muzzy 100 grains for broadheads..the hand shock is very little like not even there when equipped with the right stablizer and when the bowtech hush kit is installed..well thats what i'm shootin

My Granddad's Recurve.
Says "Wasatch Rambler 65#" on it in handwriting under the finish. He bought it back in the 60's is all I know, but he used it in competition.

2006 Mathews Switchback XT. #70, 29.5 draw, speed nock, cushion bumper with release below to the string. Trophy Ridge Matrix sight with pins set combine with peep (no tube!) and sighted in to 20-30-40-45-50 yards. able to hit a Block target 18x18 at 60 yards DC but limit hunting range to 50 max for my ability on game & my eyesight.
