I went looking for Smallmouth at Lake Tapps yesterday cause it's close to my house. We found a few little fish and then this guy hit. We lost one a little bit bigger and another about 10 broke off on the hookset. This one was 22.2 lbs. on the digital and was 43 inches long.

The Tiger was C&R and it was caught on purpose. Craven likes to cast for fish rather then sit on the hook so he might be interested in trying something different. I'll take anybody if they want to go. It's way better then mowing the lawn or honey-do's.

Wow he lost the only fish of the day in my driftboat on the Sol Duc some years ago. His hookset was suspect on the fish...not sure if he knew he had one on.

Bummer, you guys have long memories. That Sol Duc fish was my only chance on a pink worm fish. Redemption is looking like it's out of reach.

Nice tiger Steve. Made a few trips to Newman and Hauser this year with hopes of an incidental tiger. One of these days I'll stick with it. Curlew is supposed to have a pretty good population as well, Silver too. What were you throwing? Lead leader?

12 lb. Ande That's all I've ever used on them. Don't let them "eat" the bait. Don't do a Roland Martin hookset like my other buddy did. Don't tighten the drag like some guys do for Bass tournaments. That's why my 3rd. buddy lost his. This is where Steelhead/Salmon fishing gave me and advantage over them.

Any of those buddies the tool you brought to CQ last year? That guy knew it all! He was talking alot of shiat around the campfire about us steelheaders don't know how to cast or properly fight fish or catch them for that matter. Guy was talking so much crap to everyone I'm surprised he didn't get gang tackled.

Nope, that guy has not been in my boat since then. I don't deal well with that much alcohol. I'm also surprised cause he needed to be straightened out. You all showed great restraint.

Unless work decides to screw me, I should be fishing Tapps this weekend with a few buddies. One of my friends has an aunt and uncle that live somewhere on the lake and they are having a BBQ Saturday, so i was going to fish the morning and then drive over to their house (no idea where it is at this point) in the boat and attend the BBQ. I'll be in the Big Lebowski (my avatar), if anyone else happens to be out - holler at me!

Jim, The water is still too low to launch my big boat right now. I can launch my 14 ft. lake boat though. Lets go look for Gators while we wait for the lake to come up. PM me.

The lake is only about 2 feet low right now. The Pierce Co. park is open. You can launch a sled right now but you need to watch all the stumps. The water is white/gray and you can't see the stumps.
Rick, we'll hook up soon. I still own Micro a Shad trip.

Tapps is almost full. The local Musky club was on the lake on Sunday and they tell me that the Tigers are biting. I thought Bass plugs were expensive until they showed me baits from Poland that run $30 to $50 each. Amazing detail and they are huge.

the lake is in good shape especially for pumps. They dont charge for launching until after Memorial day. But you have to be off by 730pm. Too bad cause top water is fun just before dark.
