Steelheader.net Range Day 2006
      #212302 - 10/26/05 04:13 PM

Who's up for a '06 Steelheader.net Day @ the Range in February????

Read the post on the "'05 Range Day"....to see what it's all about.

Last years went very well, maybe this time we'll meet before for breakfast or after for lunch and a drink?

What are your ideas?????

well i talked to the rangemaster today and feb. 11 and 12 are open. the cost is $10 a head and $25 reservation fee. i will pay the reservation fee, this will give us the rifle and pistol range all to ourselves from 0800 to 1200 just like last year. it seemed that many dates were open so it is our choice.

evergreen sportsmans club. Here's the driving directions to Evergreen Sportsman Club.

Take I-5 to exit 95 (south of Olympia)to the Littlerock/Maytown exit. Take Littlerock/Maytown Rd.(Wa Hwy 121)West, towards the town of Littlerock.

Once in Littlerock, you must make what is technically a right hand turn (although it is more like driving straight forward)on to 128th Ave S.W.

Go straight on 128th untilyou come to a "T" intersection.
Turn Left onto Mima Rd.(You should see a sign for the Evergreen Sportsman Club at this intersection)

Travel on Mima Rd. for about 1.2 miles, turn right on Bordeaux Rd.

On Bordeaux Rd. Travel about 1/2 mile to Marksman Rd and turn right.

This will get you to Evergreen Sportsman Club, we'll be parked near the club house, see you there.

jim, the pistol range and 200 yd. (i think) rifle range are right together under cover. there is also a skeet/trap shoot about a 100yds. away. we can check into getting that also if there is enough interest.

I'm definitely interested in some pigeons. Especially 5 stand or sporting clays. Been a while since I walked the course there. Skeet would be fun too.
I think the rifle is 100yd. Unless they have another lane.

i spoke with the rangemaster today. we now also have a lane for clays with a manually activated thrower thingy. we will only have to pay for the clays we use sounds like a good deal to me so bring your shot guns if you wish.

Looks like I'll be bringing the scattergun too.
Might bring Dad's .300 Weatherby and burn up some old ammo since I am not sure what he had in the reloads. Maybe a few other long guns too, haven't shot most of them in years.

Hope to be there and shoot some of those black guns Bob, What's the advantage to having this license you all are talking about? Not familiar with it at all. Tight lines!

I understand that, but what's the adv to having a CGM license? Not sure what the requirements r for being a guide...etc. Other then personal enrichment/safety, where does this take you? An inquiring mind wants to know.

Personal enrichment/saftey are my personal goals. However, I would like to start delivering boats, and to take compensation for that, you gotta have a Lic. Also, strictly speaking, you can't even accept gas money for a trip with friends, unless you are lic'd.

evergreen sportsmans club.

Chris and I got there about 0830, took a little longer than I figured.
Chinook was waiting patiently for us.
There were only the three of us, but we had a great time. That is a really nice facility!! Chinook brought a couple of .45's (His Kimber is awsome!!!) and a shot gun.
After shooting his Kimber, I am taking my 9mm Smith in for some trigger work. Didn't realize how bad it is until I shot a really nice one.
I had an assortment, a couple of .22 rifles, that are pretty much tack drivers, a .357 Ruger, a Dan Wesson .41 (which was Chris's favorite, I didn't know anyone could burn that much ammo), Granpa's old Colt Police Positive .22 Remington Special, Ruger Super Single Six convertable, and the Smith 9mm. I also had mrs. Nav's Smith Airweight .38. Chinook has been looking at these, and after shooting this one, I think he's gonna get one. It shoots real good for a 2" barrel after you get used to the double action only, no hammer/safety set-up. It does set you know that you did something when you pull the trigger!!!
About 1100 we went to the trap range. Chris had been telling us about his High School trap team experience. How good he was gonna be!!! Well.....can you say 24 for 50...I got 24/25 second round.
Ya ought hear the excuses!!!!
We had a lot of fun, too bad more of you couldn't make it!!!
