Stopped at the Kalama on the way back to Ashland on Monday-PM/Tuesday AM. COLD!!! COLD!! COLD!! Temp (Kalama Camp Ground) bottomed out at 24.8 degrees ... and the water flow was just a big trickle. My guess is unless you have a dam flow controlled river it's going to be a bit unless you get a major shot of rain.

Gather the farther north you go (including into SW Washington) the greater the rain fall. Just a few light showers here in the upper Rogue area.

it is terrible right now, near 6 inches in 24 hrs someplaces here on th coast, when this mellows out it will be good. i pulled on some steelhead yesterday and i will do it again wed, there is always that until the bigger rivers clear enough to fish.

Hey Robert, long time no see.

I'll be there this weeknd looking to fill my tag and hopefully get into some fresh chromers too!

Keep the tanks full on your boat just in case the rains don't stop.

Jake,
The rain will pull the fish into the rivers from the ocean and bays. It also makes the rivers almost impossible to fish, but as the flooding recedes you better be on the river, because it's game time! Short term it's bad for fishing, long term it is really-really good.

SFC

just cast along the blackberry bushes and expect a whack from a fish diggin a redd in the gravel

actually that doesn't look too bad for chocolate milk, but I doubt it'll fish now

hopefully a drop in flow and some clearing will happen soon, I need to catch something this weekend

Might be a little to snagy for spinners If you look at the trees in the background, the actual river channel is about 20 yards behind them. i hope it drops in the next couple weeks, but who knows

it will, i just doubt it will in the next couple of days, i caught a couple in the trib today, actuall hooked 8 or 9, landed 4. there were only a couple keepable fish in the bunch though, and i didn't kill any of them, none met my standards.

I agree I will take the rain over dry anyday for hunting, with the deluge last the first 4 days of season the animals wern't moving at all. Hopefully the next three days will be better. Good luck fishng, rivers may be in decent shape this weekend if the rain doesn't come in to bad.

The first four days of season it was raining so hard that even fresh tracks were gone fairly quick. Wishing I was up there today since we have a bit of a break in the weather right now and the animals should be out and about. Hopefully it will stay till tomorrow morning and I can get the sneak on one of the bulls I have been watching all summer. ALways fun though.

Odd thing is save for some 'showers,' the very southern end of Oregon has been spared all this 'BS.' Rogue flow up yesterday .. but only because they increased the flows out of Warm Springs dam.

And that really screwed up the fishing which, prior to that, had been like 'shooting fish in a barrel.'

I guess paitience is the key. If I wait long enough maybe we can get into some winter steel. If the water stays high for the next couple weeks, will there be any nook fishin left? Will they all shoot up the rivers with the high water, or does the run last in to December? Tell Dick good luck. We have a few elk in our back pasture but dont have any late season tags :hungry Good thing we put some deer in the freezer.

chinook is not a lost cause by any means, i think most of the fish went back to the salt, the water got wat to high for them to make upstream progression, i will let you know if i think it will be good. i hope richard gets an elk. i took my buddy into my stompin' grounds and he dropped a nice spike this afternoon, his first. my day was made, i'm taking his buddy tomorrow and i got a herd 40 strong staked out, 6 spikes and a 5x5 i put to bed tonight, it's like i get to hunt again!!! i love it. i'm a little wore out from packing but won't miss the oppertunity to watch an elk drop in the am, i get to chase elk with no strings attached.

sorry sfcb, been working the last 9 days. i have no clue what is going on right now, i will know in a day or two. been out of town and out of the loop. i would say wait it out a bit longer, try to plan it on a drop from a raise, 6 foot water and dropping will be the best bet. will talk to ya soon, i will be around a few days.

Well the 'rain dance' worked. new [Re: ifish365]

Wind and rain like you have to see to believe here in Brookings, Oregon. River was 'low and clear' a few days ago (perfect for fly rodding). Three times the water running, wind litterly blew my 85# yellow lab off his feet in front of the motor home. Suspect that Sandy will think twice about where he goes to take a pee for awhile!
