Anyone have the recipe for the Skagit Line Recipe for the two handed rod?
I was thinking it was just a 50-55' of belly (DT line) section 2 lines up from your recommended rod weight. that was then followed by 15' sink tips.
All this attached to a quick running line like the Cortland cobra line running line.
Anyone know for sure what the recipe calls for?
Thanks

Brian (Homer3handed) should have that for you. He's a master line maker. Well, at least the ones I've used were pretty damned good.

My “Skagit Lines” are 3 times the length of the rod, not more than 3.5 times the length of the rod.
What rod do you have?

hehe, well I have the 10wt belly section, Who wants to give the 12wt, 13wt, and the 11wt. section.
We should start a line swap, List what we have and who wants to trade what for what. I'm sure we all have some lines laying around not being used.

How much would/does a certified Skagit Line sell for ?
I don't have any lines in those weights to cut up either.

Why not just buy a "Skagit Line" from RIO and not use the "Skagit Cheater".

The folks at Rio tell me the Skagit lines are not available as yet. Same for Airflo. I bug them both about availability weekly.

H2H BG is doing his annual fly line and leader inventory. I counted 18 sink tip leaders I have and now it appears that to be at the cutting edge of sink tip technology I need to buy another sink tip leader/line i.e a Skagit tip or line ?
I have three leaders to repair of the 18 so I am not sure if further investments are needed in Skagit tips/lines.
Help me here fellows.

You don't need to buy anything. You already have a Scandi Versi Tip Head and a rod that will huck it into the next county. Go fishing!

Correction, I have 19 sink tip leaders and now 4 to fix, I found another one today !!
BTW, there is no mention in The Book about Skagit casting or lines, so I suppose it is not a proven line technology yet ?
What is the MSRP on the skagit line to be marketed by Rio I suspect.
Read some more of the book last night things are getting clearer.

BG
All these years I have been casting with un-proven line technology? Wonder how the hell I have been doing it?
By the way today I was being video taped while casting. Guy doing the taping gave me some nice comments on my casting style (Skagit style) and was amazed at how I was able to cast 90 to 100 feet with such little effort cast after cast. Couldn't have been that "not a proven line technology" I was using. Must have been the 52 year old arms and the 12 year old rod I was using.

After reading most the Spey Casting book and much technical contemplation, it appears my current set ups with the Rio WC and tips is fine for my rivers in which I do not have to cast further than 60-70 feet 90% of the time.
I believe my next spey line will be this one in the short version.

This is simple ! LOL

Good choice BG, Al Burr line.
"Skagit Lines" can cast over 90 feet when needed, trust me on this one!

90 feet is all I will ever need out here well except for maybe a few situations, then I will wade deeper or reposition myself. BG
