That's great. Nice to know that there are still good people out there. Personally speaking though. I've seen Bob's rods. I'd have a hard time letting one go. LOL. Almost got Fred really drunk just so I could sneak out with a couple.

I heard that!!! See if I let you sleep over in the 'land tuna' without locking up my gear first.

Yeah, you know I was kidding. But, do plan on getting one of Bob's rods once I'm back on my feet. He does beautiful work.

Interesting thing is he 'interigates' (sp?) each client on what/where/etc type of fishing the buyer expects to do. Then he'll take more time to cover what rods do what that fit 'the business plan.'

Yup, I know Fred (but good for everyone else to know). After seeing his work first hand and seeing them cast by a variety of people, I'm convinced. Hoping to get a couple. At least two. Gotta have a good winterrun spey to throw tips and a summerrun spey for dry lining.

You'll find the 'expense' well worth the money. Not sure how current Meiz's (don't ask why the short version of his last name is spelled with a 'z..' Just done.) web site is but he and Gary Anderson now have a line of 13' rods from 5/6/7, 8/9/10, and a King Killer at 10/11/12. (May be off on those numbers)
Have used the two lighter ones; both rather pleasing rods for 'short speys;' work very well with Scan./Skagit type casts.

Yes he he is a hard man to give money to. Eventually my rod is on the lathe/bench what ever.
I cannot have Evans having a rod I don't.

Willie, Joan and I will be at Bob's home for dinner on Tuesday. Remind me what rod he's building for you and I'll put 'the lash to his back' and make sure it's well up in the que.

Fred, He doing the 14' 6" for me. There is no great rush as it just has to be ready for the Speyorama in California. There are a couple of scots going who I hope to persuade to take my rod back. This should avoid carriage and customs duty.

Good thinking, Malcolm. Then, you should be assured that it also arrives intact, as well.

Well, one other 'delivery solution' would be for you to come over and pick up the rod. Upper Rogue is chock-a-block with fish right now. (FINALLY!!) Fished below Tou Velle boat launch yesterday morning and hooked/landed 5.
It was one of those 'you just know it's going to be a good day' mornings when you hook 3 fish in about a dozen casts. Pool then went 'dead' for awhile .. and two yo-yo's work their way down to where I was. "Can we join you?" "Sure."
One fellow (the Butthead of Bevis and Butthead?) wades in about 20 yards below me and out to his waist in water ... you get just one guess where I hooked all three fish.
Anyhow, he hooks and looses one then the holding water really goes dead. So they 'loose interest' and fish on down. Let the water sit for about 15 minutes and back I go.
Hooked two more as they'd moved back in-shore from the faster water beyond. Yo'yo's see me take/release number 4 and 5 and walk back up the beach ......
You get only one more guess as to where 'Butt Head' waded ...
That's when I reeled in and went elsewhere. Hooked (ever so briefly) one other fish up stream. Here it was interesting as the fish weren't holding in the normal water but out in the faster current. Several guide boats came through (think Normandy Invasion) and several proceeded to hook fish right in front of me. Actually weren't crowing my water as they stuck to the far beach and cast 'short...' which as it turns out is where the fish were holding.
For once, river Ed-E-Cute paid off.

Oh, the first Spring Chinook was caught in Gold Beach a week or three ago, as well - saw the picture on the wall and the news article last weekend visiting the inlaws... That season is officially open today.

The springer fishing in Gold Beach really sucks right now. A lotta people are getting skunked.
