Okay, I should be about ready to start wrapping. I am building a Rainshadow HS 1025. It is a black blank. What color thread will hide my mistakes the most Or is there one that will do that. I have a spool of gunmetal grey that actually looks decent on the blank. It is plain but for my first rod I don't really care to make it too fancy. Any input would be appreciated.

I don't know jack about rodbuilding but I have a black rainshadow 1141 with dark maroon wrapping and it looks absolutely killer.
Sorry for the no-help post. I'm sure an actual rodbuilder will step up and help soon.

If you use the gray with out CP it will almost turn clear. Purple and the gray looks good together or dark green and gray. WFFF

I would suggest any dark color black, greens, maybe some dark blues use with out cp. When finish is applied the threads will turn realy dark some will even become almost translucent. You can always take a wood dowel and paint it black make a few wraps apply a coat of finish this will get you close.

Buxndux,
Black is most forgiving. Light colors are more prone to show your mistakes.
The darker greens, and blues, and garnet are good candidates.
Most importantly, pack the thread "together" tightly as you wrap.
You want your guide wraps to have a medium tension, snug, but you should be able to adjust the guide into alignment after wrapping without having to use too much effort.
Good Luck on the wrapping.

Red with no color preserver will come out burgundy and it looks good. I have a Rainshadow ST1025 and it catches fish. Take your time with the epoxy. Heat up the bottles in the microwave until they are about baby bottle warm before mixing them, It will keep the bubbles out.
