last week I ordered my AR-15 and went with a Olympic Arms PCR-5, It's an AR-15 carbine w/ a 16" barrel forged upper and lower recievers and A2 sights. I picked it up today, and what a sweet rifle.
Until I ordered this rifle, I didn't know Olympic Arms was in Olympia Wa. Anyone else have any dealings with Olympic Arms?
Now the expensive part, all those cool add ons

W4F, that sucks when someone leaves after takng your order and the company drops the ball. .......been there and done that. I thought it would be cool to buy a rifle from a local company from our state, hope I still feel that way down the road?
One of these days, I'll be able to welcome you over to the dark side......being an owner of a black gun that is. :
This makes my 3rd as I first bought an HK-91 then a FAL L1A1. What type FAL are you thinking of building?
I think my next black gun will be a STG58-G2 FAL.
Have you checked out www.entreprise.com ?
They build a nice rifle and their STG58 is on sale for $699.00 right now......thats the best deal out there now on a FAL.
The Barret rifle is cool, but to much $$$ for me to shoot. .... we 'll have to get together for some plinkin if not fishing on of these days.

Hey Tom, welcome to the board and thanks for the response.
As I stated above, last month I had my local dealer(Shooters Supply) order me a Olympic Arms PCR5 AR-15 rifle.
One of the first things I wanted to do was buy one of there FRISH(Free-floating Intergral Rail systm Handguard)and would need them to install it.
I called them and ask for directions and their business hours as I was running Springer trips @ the Cow that week and wasn't too far away.
So after my Monday May 17th trip I headed up I-5 to exit 117 and OAI.
The plan was to drop it off today(as it was 4:05 when I got there and they close @ 4:30)and pick it up after my Tuesdays trip.
I walk into their show room(way to cool, you must check it out!) and I'm greeted by someone from OAI....dang I can't remember his name.
I tell him what I'm lookin to do, and he says "I've built just a few hundered of these, I'll be right back" and off he go's with my rifle.
He's back in like 10-15 minutes with my rifle w/ the new FRISH installed(had to remove barrel from upper rec, to install)
I bought a few more goodies, payed the guy and was heading south back to the Cowlitz by 4:30, with my PCR5.....didn't have to make two trips, they saved me over 100 miles of I-5 traffic w/ my camper and sled.
Thats great customer service and I truly appreciate it !!!
My Olympic Arms PCR5 build is close to completion now, after the FRISH was installed I added a Lazer sight, Tactial lite and a AimPoint Comp ML2 red dot sight.
My only beef with Oly Arms is they build such fine rifles, now I gotta have one of their OA-93PT.
Thanks again, Bob Barthlow

I've been dealing with Olmpic Arms for years now, they are great and they are local. Rumor has it that are going to chamber the AR-15 in few of the winchester super short mags like the 250 and such...can you imagine those tight groups.........Os

Thanks for the kind words Gents. Just an FYI, the WSSM uppers are already available in 223, 243, and the 250 is coming. We will also be making our own chamberings in 300 cal and 7mm as well. Redding is making the dies as I type this. Hornady will be loading some of the ammo.

Oh, BTW, who wants to trade Oly stuff for a guided fishing trip for my and my two sons ages 5 and 8? They LOVE to fish, and being from Pennsylvania, I'm real lost as to where to go around here. Salmon would be nice, but any place we can put fish on the line for the boys would be awesome. I personally long for the old days when I'd go pan-fishing for Bluegill, Crappie, and really would love to go after some bass on a lake somewhere. Shoot me an email if your interested.

Gents,
My two boys and i had our trip with Bob Barthlow last Friday. It was certainly a day that we will never forget. My boys, because of the fish they caught, and myself for having the memories of that day and seeing my boys real in those fish!
Kudos and many thanks to Bob for his hard work, excellent hospitality, and superb lunch! Bob is an excellent guide and an all around great man. Book with himnow, you will not be sorry! He's become my boys new best friend.

Tom,
I'm generally a lurker and don't post messages but I saw you work Olympic Arms.
I'm serving in Iraq right now with the Washington National Guard and I have one of your employees in my Unit, A Co. 1-161 INF. I hesitate to use his name here without his permission but I thought you would like to know that he is doing a fine job and he's a great soldier.
We look forward to coming home to an AWB free country and spending some of our hard earned money
Steve

Yes, I know a few of guys from 303rd. The HHC Commander was a former XO in my Company. My units located about 15 minutes from Victory and we go there often. They have a Burger King and PX there. The Tacoma News Tribune sent a couple of reporters over who did a bunch of stories on the 81st Brigade and put them on-line. I think they are worth checking out.
Dogfish, that last package you sent was a real eye opener, I had nightmares for a week! I sent you an e-mail, let me know if you have any connections. I might be coming home on R&R soon, I'll keep you posted.

Ranger,
Tell our employee over there to take care of himself. Spent my time at Ft. Lewis as well. Went over there to the bif sand box the last time around. Sorry we weren't able to finish the job for you all, but polotics played a role as well.
One thing I think we can all benefit from is something that comes from reading Gen. Franks new book; "anytime you are in combat, the enemy always gets a vote" We all would do well to remember this. You know that ops plans are only guaranteed until you cross the line of departure, after that, it's all up in the air.
Best of luck to all my Brothers in Arms.
Tom S.
