Does anyone know how Moses Lake fishing is now adays. I remember around 6 years ago it was dead, nad it has sparked up a little, and new updates form anyone?

We have been fishing walleye in there and doing very good on fish in the 20" to 26" range. We had a 20" trout on a crank bait while fishing walleye last week. Havn't seen to many people fishing trout latly, They still release trout from the pens so I would think you should be able to catch them with a little effort. My partner caught a trout last fall while we were walleye fishing that was close to 6lb and it had 4 croppie in its tommy.

Heading over to Moses for 5 days right after work on Friday....can't wait. I'll post a fishing report when I get back.
Hey plugger. Do you mind if I ask what part of Moses is good, and what depth you are catching fish at???

My grandparents used to live in town. As a kid I spent 1000's of hours fishing Moses Hole. One of our favorite methods is to use a slip float with a nightcrawler anywhere from 5 to 20 feet off of the I-90 Fill near the park. It's been three years since I have been over to fish it. At times it was a fish every cast. I am not talking about little fish but big ol fat kick yer ass Rainbows. I like to use my 9' LCI with a big slip float. Double snelled #4 hooks on 10# leader of about 3 feet long, this below a barrell swivel with an ounce or two oval egg sinker. Send that out there as far as you can and hang on!! That is the same rig I use for Beach casting Coho's except I switch the Nightcrawler for a Herring.
Potholes Canal can be another really good place. Just pretend it is a very fast moving deep river. 3 1/4ounce cannonball sinkers to get a good drift. Same leader as above. You never know what you might catch, Trout, SM Bass, Walleye, perch, GIANT Blugill, crappie. I even know a guy who caught a sturgeon in there! I think I hooked that sombich a few times.
Have heard of some action out of soap lake as well.

Gutz, thanks for the info. I'm with ya on the slip float! Turns out that is pretty much my "go to" bait when fishing for walleye in Spraque, Moses, Potholes, Scooteney....anyplace I can find good structure to fish..I was messing around with a slip float and worm from a dock on Lake Entiat in Lincoln Rock State Park on my way back from Conconully Lake 3 weeks ago and wound up catching a 10 lb Rainbow (Steelhead?).
I haven't tried the canal area since my very fisrt Moses trip years ago, mostly because I had an unreliable engine on my boat. Now I've re-engined to a Yamaha 4-stroke, I'm not as hesitant to venture far from Big Sun Resort!!!!

We have been picking up the walleyes at the S. end. Trolling crank baits on the edge of flats, 10 to 14' and spiner harneses on the steeper edges that drop from 10 to 20'.

To Everyone who responded, thanks...I have fished Moses for years, I just have not gone lately. I used to go fish there maybe around 5-6 times a year. In the 80's I felt as though the fishing was a little better, in the 90's it was dead for a while, or maybe that is because I was to busy dinking with my buddies..eiather way, I hear good things again about Moses. Thanks again for the responses.

Plugger, thanx for the info. 4 hours and counting, and I'm on the road. Pretty awesome of my wife to agree to spend our anniversary camping and fishing every year, huh? And to top it off, she's an awesome cook too.........!

Well, trip to Moses was fun, but I could have wished for better fishing. A cold front blew in the night we got there and we had very cool temp's and much wind for all but our last day. Did manage to come home with 4 in the freezer, not counting the small ones and trout I let go, oh and the 10-12 lb carp I hooked in the dorsal while trolling. That was definately the best fight I got the whole trip....!!

I just got back from Scooteney Resevoir yesterday for the 4th of July weekend. Caught a ton of walleye, and not one in keeper size. They all looked like they were kicked out of the same mold....12" to 15"........but still fun to be out catching fish!!!!

Oh, by the way, there are a few waters missing from the list there on the WDFW site, like Eagle Lakes, Evergreen Res., Lind Coulee............. Plus our local Fishing and Hunting News (Lies???) just published a report that someone had caught a walleye in Lake Washington.....!

I was born in Spring Valley, Minn. and I agree that Minn. has lots of Eyes. I spoke to a gentleman name Gary Roach while he was at a seminar here in Wash. He told me stories about watching people clean fish on the Columbia that he would have put on the wall if he caught them back home. He lives in Bernard? 7+ lb. are common in the Columbia and 10 - 12 lb. are not rare. Some Minn. pro's could shine here. Some people still see Eye's as scrap fish here.

He is a BIG name out here, Mr. Walleye, and he is from Brainerd. I caught my limit last nigh all were about 19" 2 lbs. Great eating!

Chad, I'm jealous. I just got back from 3 days at Scooteney Res. Caught a ton of walleye, all in the 12" to 14" size range (16" limit size), so no keepers. Had to console myself with a walleye filet dinner from the some of the fish I caught at Moses Lake in June.
I know who Mr Walleye is (Gary Roach). I subscribe to Walleye Insider magazine..........

Can't keep 'em. The state wide size limit is 16" with a few waters (Moses Lake for one) where the minimum size is 18"........you can keep 5/day, with only one of the 5 over 22"

Stop, you're killing me. Since I live on the west side of the state, all of the walleye fishing is on the other side of the mountains. I only get to feed my walleye fishing addiction when I have time to plan 3-5 day camping/fishing trips.........

Chad, what part of Minn are you living in? I have in-laws in Edina, and have spent time in Albert Lea visiting my wifes G'Ma.......unfortunatley, I didn't get time to wet a line the last time I was there. I won't make that mistake the next time!

Bemidji is pretty much in the center of the state, Canada is abooooot 2 hours from here. Now talk about Walleye fishing, up there it is unreal. You can catch 100's in a day!
