I live in Bothell but I was raised in Portland. Trolled spinners in the Willamete Tues and Wed in my Portland buddies boat. Two of us hooked 4 and landed 2 on Tues. The one I got was a nat (released), looked to be almost 30 pounds, and the other was a hatchery fish 15 or so. Wed three of us hooked 5 and landed 3 and I got a 28 pound (on the scale) hatchery fish and the other two were 15-16.
Only 25 boats out in the area we fished between the power lines and the upstream end of Sauvies Island, near St. Johns. We counted 25 fish boated on Wed.
The Willamete run goes later than it used to when I fished it in the 60's. They get Willamete springers into July now.
Sure beats Seattle! I fished the Tulalip bubble on Friday. I counted five rows of rigs in the parking lot with 30 in each row = 150 rigs. Must have been 200 boats out there. I didn't see a fish or hear of a fish. The fish checker said she counted 4 fish around noon.
All together now: SEATTLE SUCKS!

A couple of my friends have been hitting some chrome springers on the S. Santiam. Most guys have given up by now, there is still lots of fish available to those willing to go after them. The later returning fish are running alot bigger thean the fish that came in earlier.

Gotta agree with you there Willie the run on the Mckenzie still has fishable numbers for the most part.

I gotta tell you, last week there were a lot of fish in the lower river. The local retired guys who fish the lower river most everyday think these late fish are mostly headed for the Clack. These were bright fish with sea lice.
