Well with the rains and all the sun we had, the fishing was slow this week. The Kenai, Kasilof and Anchor were about two feet high and looked like chocolate milk. Tried to fish the kenai, but everytime I put out I had to reel in the giant lump of grass on the end of my lines. Kasilof was much of the same, river was high, muddie and fast. Had to anchor to fish it well. the upper kenai from sportsman's to Jims landing was high but clear and productive. Lots of Sockeye and a occasional rainbow. water is fast though and most of the sockeye are higher up the river now. Good news is the halibut fishing was great this week. The water was glass and lots of 50 - 70 pounders came in. I would look for the fishing to improve everyday, untill the water clears up. good luck and tight lines.

The ninilchik fished well on saturday from what I heard, sunday was slow. The kasilof was also affected by the personal use fishery. From what I heard, the russian was really good but VERY crowded. Do you do the Reports on the raido by chance? Or is that riverbend (KSRM)

No I dont do the reports on the, I just report on where I fish that week. WRO are you guiding by chance? Its nice to have another voice in here. Your right on the nets being out at kasilof, but the water sure came up and was fast. I had to plan about 15 yards up river to drop my anchor. It was kinda a pain in the butt. We did well on the russian. We were in a boat though and stayed away from the crowd.

Not guiding, I actually do construction.. Were building the new houses by the College. I just try and fish 5 or 6 days a week. I have figured out a couple of secrets on the Kasilof for a bank maggot. Not my favorite place to fish by any streatch of the imagination, I LOVE the anchor. less crowds, nicer fish and more fishermen and less snaggers. We could meet for a cup of coffee or a beer if you want some evening after work.
