This time of the year it can be more challenging deciding where to fish and what to fish than the actual fishing.
All the willamette Tribs are full of summer steelhead. There are also plenty of springers to be had.
If you are into to trout, there are way to many lakes rivers to list that have good fishing right now.
If warm water fishing is your thing, then right now is prime time to be after pan fish in the lakes and pond. Bass fishing is excellent right now. Be it largemouth or smallmouth they are all biting well.
If you feel like hitting the coast, A lot of rivers have good numbers of summer steelhead and the cutthroat trout fishing is always hot this time of the year.
Saltwater fishing can be good this time of the year. Every thinks of salmon when they think of fishing in the ocean. But this is prime time to get in on some excellent bottom fishing. Rock fish and Lingcod should be good right now. Dont think you have to out on the big blue pond to get in on the action. Some of the bays have really good fishing on jetties. My favorite is Newport. I fish around the jetties at night and flat kill the black rock fish. 50, 75 and even 100 fish nights are not uncommon.
I have the next 6 days off and the only thing I have to do is figure where Im going to fish... Santiam steelhead? Green Peter Kokanee? Willamette smallmouth? Newport rock fish? High Lakes trout? I might just spend a day doing each one. Whats your peoples plans??

Whoa there are so many steelhead on the Mckenzie right now it is amazing. I wish I had the time off to go and check it out. I am still moving. Which coastal rivers have a good summer steelhead run, other than the Umpqua?

A tad 'green with envy' here. The upper Rogue spring king run is in high gear, the actual number of summer runs through the counter at this point is sill only 700. Not many fish in a 30 mile stretch of river. :>(
But, we don't usually see all that many fish until the Corp of Eng. starts dropping the flows down to the 1500 cfs level, or lower. Will be at least another month before that happens.
The flows now are about 2800 cfs to keep the water cooler and to pull the kings up stream as fast as possible.

I've been too busy at work lately to do much of anything other than forgo sleep on Sunday mornings and fish within walking distance. This weekend though, no work because of the holidays so I'm going to the coast to try my luck at some saltwater salmon. That will be a nice change of pace.
