Kenai Peninsula Report new
      #121561 - 07/07/04 08:53 AM

Well the Bait opener on the kenai was a little slow. Went out a six am and only came home with two fish. 4/0 cheaters with eggs is producing well along with rapped 16 kwikfish. The river is still high and the nets have been out so fishing was a little slow this week. Picked up a 51, 43, and 38 on friday and nothing on sunday . Went halibut fishing out of homer on saturday. With the highest tide of the year the fishing window was tight. Went out seventeen miles, lots of fish but all about 20-30 pounds. I released 16 before I kept 2 about 25 pounds. On monday we went to clam gulch for some claming. took the four wheelers 6 miles down the beech twords anchor point. Everyone piced up a limit of 60. With the high tides you need to be careful. I had to help some people out who hit a rock with there truck and were unable to get to high ground. I forsee the fishing to improve twords the weekend. The reds are also starting to show up. so fishing should be great. Tip up and tight lines. I will be posting pics tomorrow, so keep looking

Epic at starting last wednesday for reds, kinda slowing.. There are a few kings around, have hooked 7 in the last 4 days of fishing, with a 45 and a 25 landed and released. (FROM THE BANK)
