Where in the FOG are we or Gold Medal High Jump
      #129283 - 08/16/04 02:32 PM

I hate Fog.
I had the opportunity to fish this weekend with Tim on the "TrueStory". She is a real beauty with all the cool stuff. Radar, chartplotting GPS, Electric Downriggers, you name name it what a fine craft ...

Well anyway we left at dawn from Big Salmon. It was clear out to Tatoosh and then into the fog. We were headed for Umatilla Reef. Attached are some pictures I took on the way down the coast. I had heard it was really spectacular ...
Tatoosh Island
Skagway Rocks
And Umitilla Reef

We made it down to Umitilla with our new friend "Captain Nasty"close behind. He didn't have the coordiantes for the reef and just took a chance and followed us.It wasn't long til Bill was fish on. Green Flasher and an army truck Coho Killer. They kill chinook too and this one was about 15. A hen with nearly mature eggs! They are in the cure! Next up Tim gets into a very nice fish. As it gets near the boat it makes one of the most spectacular leaps I have ever seen a fish make! It would have been a gold medal for sure. Must have been 6 feet out of the water not 3 feet from the boat! Amazingly it stayed hooked up and was soon welcomed to the "Club" 26 pounds. Sweet! We hung around the reef for some time having one bust off quickly. I would have liked to have seen that one! We caught quite a few Black Bass and one nice ling. All trolling hitting a variety of things.

We stopped by the Whistle buoy for a little Coho Rodeo before heading in for a break. They are still thick out there.

Sunday we headed out 8 miles west of Tatoosh to Table Rock. We only managed 3 coho. Not much happening out there. The fog closed in once we got out there. We heard a number of ships pass by but never saw anything close by. there were a few charters out there too. It was very nice on the Ocean with hardly a swell and no chop. Did I mention that it was foggy?

Like always the trip was over too soon. I alread have a reservation for Thursday-Saturday night at Snow Creek.Say hello if you are out that way.

Thanks Again Tim!

Hmmm, those last three all look the same
Sounds like a good trip. Thanks for sharing.
