Can't sleep (again). Was doing some surfing. Came across a Shakespeare Spey rod. They're known for being a lower end gear rod. Functional and designed to beat the hell out of and toss away if broken. LOL. Anyone else (Malcolm help here?) hear of these, or better yet tried one? Are they any good? I know there are some surprises on two handers from over in the UK. Heard good things about the Daiwas as well. But any info on these? Here is what I found out about it on the listing.
THIS ITEM IS A 15' SHAKESPEARE ORACLE FLY ROD COMPLETE WITH A SHAKESPEARE SUMMIT FLY REEL WITH SPARE SPOOL AND A WORCESTERSHIRE SALMON FLY LINE AND BACKING ALL BRAND NEW AND IN MANUFACTURERS PACKING AND WARRANTY TOTAL RRP 190 POUNDS
15 ' Oracle Salmon Fly Already a popular choice with salmon anglers, the Oracle Salmon Fly range incorporates dark brown hi-grade carbon blanks and quality fittings. Model Ft Metres Sections AFTM RRP 1730.45 15 4.5 3 10/11 £110.00
So, any info on these? Not saying I'm running out and buying one. LOL. So don't need advice on others. I'll be talking with Aaron when the time comes to rebuy my spey rods. Hopefully even speak to Meiser about an FES.

Sorry never heard of them. These days there are few really bad rods but there are also some crackers. I see someone is selling the B&W Norways for a touch over £200 on the UK board, that is a bargain.

Yeah, I know quite well about the "These days there are few really bad rods". Saw that first hand at the Spey Clave. Think it was Simon Gawesworth who didn't bring his rod with him. He literally grabbed one off the demo table and was punching out all the line in just a couple casts. Was using one of the "lower" end rods from Reddington.
I was just curious on what the rep was for them over in the UK (since this rod was being sold there). I know shakespeare doesn't carry the best rep here. I've seen a few of the B&W's online too. Been tempted at a few that were being sold rather cheap. But had no history on them. Worse thing, the rods were sold before I could talk to you Malcolm. LOL.
