The big rain storms that we had here in the GL area last friday did indeed bring a decent push of kings up into most of the rivers, but even though it was a good size wave of fish from guys i have talked to this week it seems the fish have spread out through out the systems. The numbers in the rivers right now are for sure fishable but it's the second push of fish that we are waiting for right now, once the second push of fish comes upstream they will help to fill in most of the "blank spots" on the river and the action will be hot till sometime in october.
Weather is calling for some rain in the next few days so hopefully that might be just the ticket to suck the next wave of fish up the river.

Just a update for the MI rivers...
The PM is fishing very well as of right now, i fished for 4 days last week and had many hook ups and we landed 6 salmon with the biggest around 20pounds or there abouts. The big 2nd push of fish is still not in the river yet but there are more and more "trickleing" in everday and the upper section of the Pm is fishing very well. The lower sections is still a bit spotting right now as most fish have moved all the way upstream.
The Big manistee is fishing very slow for this time of year, there are some fish in it but not yet in the good numbers that would usally be found for mid sept.
Most of the west side (MI) streams are fishing decent to good right now and the east side rivers are still very slow as is to be expected for sept. Usally the east side rivers run 3 weeks later so those streams such as the Au Sable will be starting to pick up in another couple weeks.

Thanks SD, but we need rain and cool weather to really get the show going. Does not look like its within sight soon either.
Joe is real slow right now and LOW.

Yup a good rain would really get things "hot" but the forecast for the next week is callin for no real rain in sight. Even without the rain certian rivers are fishing good though so with the fish coming in 'steady' instead of a huge "push" this will actually make for some good salmon fishing well into Oct. I'm leaving tomorrow for a weeks fishing trip so i'll let ya know how things are looking again when i get back sunday.

Well i fished the PM for 6 days last week..it is a "bit" slower than normal but its not anywhere near as bad as some places are reporting. Between the 3 of us we landed 36 fish over the week all on hairwings and the biggest goin about 25lbs. The fish arent on the gravel as they usally are at this time of the year but thats fine with me i like fishing them in the holes more anyway(less snagged fish). So if your in the GL area hit the PM its worth the trip right now and will be till late OCT.

Not in the gravel the first of October incredible. Its definitely an odd year weather and fish wise.
There are usually always some on the gravel by early september there.

There are "some" on the gravel BG but nothing like it usally is this time of year. The majority of the fish that were on gravel seemed to be there once it got dark and then slide back into the hole once the sun came out, which usally by Oct 1st they will stay on the gravel till you can almost step on them. All in all its pretty good fishing because the "poor" reports have seemed to keep some of the guys from hitting the river so you can "stretch out" a bit more and actually fish a bit more water without haveing to protect you pc of land lol.

Oh yes I know what you are talking about. LOL
I wonder if I could get my favorite hole/run a first light now and then keep it all day. There are always fish in this location which I am sure you know about it, its famous with the guides anyway.

Yup i had no prob finding them on the Pm, pmflyfisher...my favorite hole on that river always holds salmon like cordwood if theres any fish at all in lol. But some of the smaller "pocket" type holes that usally hold some fish were still empty on the last trip....but not at all "bad" thats for sure.
I'm hittin the Au Sable in about 10 days for a week...hope thats better than i've been hearing so far...reports sound pretty weak for that river this year.
