West side grouse
      #134510 - 09/10/04 10:24 AM

Just seeing if anyone went after grouse around the capitol forest and the land by summit lake.
Last year was my first year trying and it was ruff.
If anyone has any tips let me know.

Shaun

All you have to do is walk roads. Any logging road will work but old roads that are growing over seem to be best. I like the roads with weeds in them and small alders growing on the sides. I have some pics that show some good roads but haven't finished the roll of film yet. Go any time, but it will be best when the weather clears after a wet period. If it's been really dry then watch for them on the sides of the roads where there is often water.

This can't be healthy. All this fishing is really messing with my head.

I got my pictures developed but they don't show the roads that well.

I've been seeing quite a few grouse this year. Ruffies mainly. I whacked one yesterday and couldn't get a shot at another after fishing and on my way down the hill from getting chantrelles.

Grouse is good.
