Turkeys bee sew stoopid! new
      #105093 - 03/17/04 08:39 PM

I went out with a client today, yeah, a client, that's the ticket, to go talk business and shoot some informal 5-stand and skeet. Charlie was about 4 shots into a station, when I noticed he had a friend right behind him.

Charlie held out his ear plug and got the hen pretty close, but she soon got bored, and decided to see if the empty hulls tasted good.

We chased her off before we started shooting again, but for those of you who think turkeys are smart, think again.

Yeah, there is a dumb one at the gun club I belong to, too. I'm not sure if they are so dumb, though - the handouts and attention they get would spoil any critter!

Hey, fish4steel - How's the pheasant hunting in Korea? In the early '50s, it was damned good! We used to go when we got "off line", to a rest area, swapping our M-1 bullet launchers for old, long-barreled 12-gauge Rem. Model 11's from special services. Man, the birds used to love to hang out in the brush near rice paddies!

Bob,
This place is lousy with pheasants. I tried to put together a hunt down on Chejudo Island through MWR, but it fell through. It is supposed to be a real hoot. I'm out of luck now, 'cause if I get orders for this place again I opt to go to Camp Sofa (as in, retire!!) The waterfowl hunting around here should be good too. I was up on the DMZ this winter and there were tons of White Fronted Geese. I suspect that a firearm in that area would be a real bad idea though (I believe that the ROK soldiers up there are locked and loaded)....not to mention the mine fields, but I think the rice paddies would not be mined, the Z itself is.
