The first pic shows from left to right an Orange or Yellow, two Pig's Ear, a White, and another Orange.
The second pic shows some Black Chantrelles. A small plate of these fills the air with a delicious fruity smell. Can't wait to try them. Poor man's truffles

Goose, have you ever heard of a "Bear's Tooth" mushroom? We ate some at The Herb Farm the other night. Wow! I guess they only grow in trees and can get 2-5 pounds. I will start looking up from now on when in the forest.
We also had a rare Blue Chantrelles that came from Vacouver Island.

Bears Tooth is a new one for me. I'll have to do some research on it. Blue chantrelles? I'm looking for those locally. Found some winter chantrelles out back of the cabin.

I looked it up, it's actually called a bearded tooth or hedgehog mushroom. I was a little buzzed when the waiter was explaining what we were eating

Aunty good shrooming spots are definitely zipper info.....in fact they be beyond zipper! But a shroom roundup in a general area might work.

Gooose,
I agree with that.
This year, the spots I normally would find shrooms have all been logged over.
I only have experience with chantrelles and the occasional matsutake. It would be cool to know of some other goodies.
What I thought might be interesting, is clear pictures of the immediate area, showing the growth habits and likely places and flora that often grow in the same areas. Books give descriptions (lowland, burns, etc) but a picture is worth... well, you know.

I can add some of that info. Note I am not an expert by any means as I just found out when I attended the recent Shroom show in Chimacum. Well worth going to your local county Mycological Society annual mushroom shows if you are really interested in learning new species. I was humbled to find out that the Man on Horseback mushroom I had identified was not what I thought it was . Glad none of us ate one.

Why we only pick a couple varieties with positive id .. or is that we can't find the other ones. We saw the show advertised but had a full schedule. Hope white dog didn't get any mushroom snacks from you.
