Do many people use portable or climbing tree stands on the Westside?

I've run into a few when out with my ML, but they were fairly obvious. I see more over in Eastern, WA.

I just returned from week in North Carolina (family illness)
but I got the chance to hunt for a few mornings. These guys are really into tree stands. It took some getting use to,but after the shock was gone ,of useing a "self climber" it was "all good".
I passed up several smaller bucks and tons of does(they're bag limit is something like a deer a day.

I going to try some of these techs on the westside for elk and deer.
I'm really thinkin about buildin my own .....maybe

Be careful if you build your own climber. There are lots of people back East who've taken an unexpected ride down a tree due to tempermental design that didn't grip!

Thanks for your consern.
If I can build a white water cat frame that can withstand a pounding,I think a tree stand is do-able.

One thing that did happen back in carolina, was while I was desending the tree, the bottom portion of self climber fell off my feet.....######!
so I had to hug the tree with my legs, while working the platform down the tree....not fun.
I'm still working on my design........Os

I would love to hunt someday in a stand but I get to d@mn impatient sitting in one spot to long.. I think it would be a great way to hunt the opening day of elk though.
