New -2-me-shroom
      #140089 - 10/11/04 07:27 PM

Tried out a new shroom a few days ago. It's called the "Fairy Ring Mushroom". It's a small group of mushrooms that grow in a ring formation found mostly on lawns. The caps are pale to tan in color , diameter (of the ones I found) ranged from half inch to 2 inches. Caps have a rounded "nipple". We cut the stems off as they are said to be "tough". They are not very tall (most mowers will pass right over 'em) but are easy to find. The wife and I drove through several cul-de-sacs to discover many of the "rings"
on several lawns. Homeowners don't seem to mind your pickin if you ask either. Scissors work great for harvesting these puppies. They cook up great, taste great, great texture and cheap to get ,easy to find.
