Friday.... Umpqua at Sawyers rapids. Fished about 2 hours and scored zip. Not much action from what I saw. heard they got into some Silvers that morning.
Saturday. Coquille Tide water at day break... Fished about 3 hours. Nothing for us and the rest of the people we spoke to.
Saturday around around noon. I knew alot of fish had moved up into the river so we decided to go find them. Did some creative drift boat launching (steeeeeep bank, long rope, lots of cussing and falling down a blackberry covered hill) only to bang and bounce our way down a very low fork of the Coquille scareing lots of fish back down the river. We finally got to where the another fork of the Coquille comes in and motored, drgged and cussed the boat up that fork about 300 yards to a hole that I know holds lots of fish. The only other wat to get this hole is to get permission from the farmer and not too many people do. Anyways, My hunch was right and the hole was plugged with Chinook. We were hooking lots of fish so I called my dad and had him drive out and join us. When the smoke cleared and the blood stopped flowing we had landed 17 and killed 6 big fat hens. We must have hooked 25 fish. They were a mixture of chromies and darkies.
Sunday.... At daylight we were back at the slay hole. We left the boat there over night. The hole was barren.... The river had risen a little and the fish tore on up the river. Lots of fish were moving into the hole but they didnt stick around long and they were not interested in biting. We fished there about 2 hours and bailed on it. My dad drove back home and my buddy and I floated on down to the next ramp about 5 miles down stream. We ended up getting a Silver we released, 2 jacks and 4 fat hens. We got all the fish while side drifting. The fish were not holding anywhere, they were just moving right on up the river.
Monday....Got off work early and hit the Alsea for a couple hours. Hooked 6 and landed 3. All had sea lice. I kept 2 and headed home.
Now I have to fire up the smoker and finish curing close to 5 gallons of eggs! Cant wait to do it all over again!!

Well Willie I got back from the alsea and brought home a nice bright buck. I had 4 of them on but they kept breaking me off on the rock ledge. The was a couple of guys down there at the time and they were nice enough to give me a couple tips and it really helped alot. I posted a pic of the fish in my post ( Fishing NW Oregon). BTW I was fishing at the little trough at milepost 16, you ever tried that hole?

Man, that post brings back some memories. I used to fish that very hole often when I was living in Corvallis and going to OSU. There is the trough hole as we used to call it, and then a little ways down the road the series of bedrock holes (long pull-out on south side of road) were always a good bet. Good times.
