Don, Man you are an artist. Impressive work.
Hey guys if you are looking for someone to build a custom rod, look no further than Nivtup.
Don, feel free to throw up a pic of the rod you built for me if you like.

Brewer,
I got it, and it is on it's way to visit St. Croix, I will let you know what they say.
I told them the guy who broke it is used to using a Yeller Pole, hopefully that will convince them.

That's right, you understand correctly....I had Nivtup make an original work of art...a beauty may I add...and Brewer busted it! I knew it was too good for Brewer. Had Micro's name and birthdate on it. Had sentimental value to Micro. Brewer lost the entire top half of the rod to a fish....when he came home with just the butt end, it was micro sized.
Nivtup, maybe you should just put duct tape around the entire rod next time and just spray paint it fruehoff yellow. That's more like Brewer's style.
Don, thanks for everyhting, it was gorgeous and very well built. Brewer needs to learn how not to set the hook like Thor's hammer.

My two cents here... PANTS forget about it. BREWERs set in his own way!! Even when we were kids he ripped lips. One silver fishing trip always stands out in my mind. We were fishing LEO's jigs one November day when this poor 6 pound silver pulled down the cork bobber. Your hubby sets back with the power of THORS hammer, not just once but at least 10 times. The poor fish never had a chance by the 10 set the fish just gave up and came in. Sorry to be so blunt but that's just the way it is and the way its always been.

huh, mf, that silver story is soo not true. i do not recall the silver story yer talking about, but i soo doudt that is a accurate version. mf, shall brewer tell my versions of the cable days? cause there are many of those i recall.
brewer never busted a rod back then. but yes i seem to be a little heavy handed. i beleive it is the result of brewers extensive weight lifting program. uncountable reps of IPAs!

We were fishing just below the Willows (before they bulldozed them)and I ended up catching the only steelhead of the day, a dark summer run. That was the trip you darn near wiped out those deer at Rimrock, heading over White Pass. When I said "RICK WATCH OUT FOR THOSE DEER!!!" and you said "I know I see them... just sit their and let me do all the driving."
Think back to your first glass rod... Wasn't that around your first swig of BV... Ah, see you do remember.
As far as the cable days I don't recall too much about those days. We'll leave it at that, Savy

Yes, I shoulda known better than to get Brewer the finest...the best custom rod builder out there....but love makes you do crazy things!
I shoulda known better.... Second date and we were in the parking lot of the local bar...just kidding! Really truly, we were on our second date and prior to entering the restaurant he wants to show me his rod....(fishing rod! Stay on topic!) I believe it was a Loomis, I wasn't too interested in a fishing rod at the time so I didn't care to file the details in my memory. Anyways, he proceeds to hold the butt end and asks me to bend the tip as he was demonstrating the action. (You are staying on topic, aren't you?) Anyways as I am holding the tip he bends the rod down a little bit and CRACK! Busted. He was speechless!
I shoulda known better when...shortly after we were married he had just purchased a GLoomis and I had a Lamiglas. Well, he went fishin' for silvers (blame it on the Silvers) and from the story I heard he busted his brand new Loomis (first time out) on a silver....then get this, proceeds to go to the car and get my rod and use it since his was busted. Within 5 minutes another Silver bit the line and Whamo! Busted my rod too!
We have a corner of the garage specifically reserved for broken rods. At the rate it has been going, we may need to reserve a storage unit.

PANTS forget the Loomis, SAGE, Rain Shadows... Next time you have that specially wrapped rod done, have it done on a Yellow EC Fly pole. That way you can be sure it won't leave the House. lol

the pants is right, theres a graveyard of brewer busted rods in the garage. one busted rod goes back almost 20 years ago. i trully miss that rod. bought it through bass pro shop. it was a 9'8/12weight bait caster. i sleyed many a fish with that rod, i miss it so.
i remember lending a fly rod to mf once, he went fishing with a couple of his buddys. mf brought the fly rod back in two separate peices, not broke or anything, just different peices. like a different tip! told mf about the wrong tip... he staired blankly an me. to this day i still got the mystery fly tip that was given me by mf. so brewer was given a bogus rod in return, basically lost a rod in lending mf the flyrod. it to was layed to rest in the busted rod graveyard...

the part about the bogus fly rod is someone ended up with a equal bogus rod you think? between lending fishing rods to mf and the O'man, don't know which one was worse!

Niv, what colors did you wrap that green blank with? I'm starting on 2 1025's right now and am still wondering about thread. I did a test wrap of "blue dun" I had, it looks ok, but I'm still thinking. Thanks, they look great.

The Blue scales is a blend of gudebrod lt blue #037, blue dunn #272 and dark blue #246.
Garnet looks really good with the Green Rainshadow Blanks also.
