Hi Guys,
I am thinking about getting rid of my Oneida and moving up to a shorter(and lighter!) bow any input on the following:-Mathews SQ2
-High Country Archery Carbon 4Runner extreme! Seems very nice, but at around 600 bones ouch! Thanks for any input!

I have heard nothing but good things about the Mathews single cam bows. Don't have any specifics.

Mathews makes a great bow, and the single cam has come a long way in the last 8-10 years. I have an older (1996 model) Jennings one cam that is a good bow, but the new bows from Mathews blow it away. Don't overlook Martin's bows...great value, great performance, and built right here in the Pac NW. My Fury will shoot with anything around, both accuracy and speed. High country has been trying to market a carbon riser bow for several years now...wonder if they've got it right this time?

The new high country is 31" from cam to pully and 2.9lbs... 315 ft/sec of the shelf! I hate to spend that kind of money, but the Oneida just might get replaced!

i just bought the new sq2 and i will tell you what it is definetly surperior to any other bow i have shot if you dont mind spending the cash ! go shoot it!

you might check out the bow-tech line as well very light and fast around 315- 320 a bit less expensive than the mathews but still when you put all the goodies on them one tends to shake thier head at what you can dropped on a top of the line bow.

Hey Marty after shooting a bow for 26 years and owning a bow shop ive come to the conclusion that it all depends on the nut at the end of the string my favorite bow is a old hoyt pro force fast flite.
BUT if your going to trade in you onida you should go to some shops and shoot evry bow you can there all alitle difrent.
Bying a bow is like buying a car some like dodge some ford and some volkswagons. they all get you down the road.same with a bow.
Think about were and how you will youse your bow before you buy.

I still have my favorite bow and use it from time to time, it a PSE elite I got it about 1987. Love that bow, but I am a gadget freak, cant help myself! I need to get one that I can get my next moose with though and thats 2 years off, I want to be very friendly with the bow by then! Thanks for all the info!

I used to shoot a older High Country Four Runner and i love it, it was very fast but it had alot of recoil. I now shoot a Mathews Mq1 and i love it, not much recoil but it's not as fast either.

I just got back from the Idaho State Bowhunter Jamboree and saw a lot of the new bows people are shooting. I would take a really good look at the Hoyt 2000XT. Also depends on your shooting style (fingers vs. release) Some of the top shooters in the fingers class were all shooting the Hoyt. Bow Tech also has some nice bows. I shoot a Reflex which is great for fingers (getting a HABU long bow soon).. You don't want to be Mathews shooter

I agree with the great outdoorsmen, you should try and get your hands on as many as possible and SHOOT them don't just take someones word for it. I used to be stuck on hoyt but they just got to proud of their products, that said I would consider a reflex (basically a hoyt) but cheaper and you can bypass the proshop. The last bow that I bought is a Martin altitude which I am very happy with. this bow is very similar to the bowtech tech 29 except the cam. I have heard a lot of praise on the bowtech's lately too.
It's important to shoot which ever bow BEFORE you buy!!!!

One of the things to remember is that most competitive archers are very into trends. That doesn't make the trend bad, but remember that. Most of the better shooters shoot a particular brand because it is essentially free or free to them.
It is more important that the bow that you buy is setup correctly than what bow you buy. Therefore, you should shop for a good pro shop who is willing to let you try bows, but who also will support the bow/do warranty work if required. Any bow will probably be better than you if it is setup correctly.
You don't have to buy the top of the line, but it does need to be setup correctly.

Don't over look Daton Bows. They are a sweet bow. I shoot an avalanche extreme and love it. Mathews is to much for a name as far as I am concerned. They are a nice bow though. BTW I have also been in the industry for a few years.

I would stay away from the Sq2 and go to the previous model the Q2 or the next year model of the SQ2 the Legacy...JMO
