Okay we are a little more than 2 weeks away from the Mad Cow Flotilla 4.2! The dates are June 15th and 16th. The river is the Cowlitz...anywhere you want to fish. The rendevous for meeting and festivities is the Blue Creek boat ramp parking lot. A lot of folks will be arriving with Rvs and tents, etc. the night of the 14th to form our Alamo...circle your wagons please to help keep out the riffraff. I'll be arriving early evening the 14th and will begin serving oysters. I'm thinking the saturday festivities and barbecue should start around 4 pm...but other thoughts on this are welcome. This is not a derby...your prizes shall be the cheers( or in some cases Boo's) of your friends and peers. What happens sunday depends on how much energy we have left. So see you all there!
Some things we need:
Barbecues
Tables= sawhorses and plywood
A couple of those firepits on legs things campers use for campfires plus firewood
Name tags?
Anything else you can think of?
If anyone needs a seat in a boat post it here?
If anyone has a seat available post it here?
Do we want Team names just for the fun of it...no competition involved though!?!

Gonna be a fun feeshin shindig, Gooose. I'll be bringing my sled up for at least Saturday. Stew will bring the banjo if you still think ya need it. I haven't talked to other fishing buddies yet, but if I have an open seat then any of you members from Marty's site that are bankin it at BC are welcome to jump in and catch some fish.

Gooose; I have a BigAss Grill that will go right over a firepit. One Card Table.
I took some pictures of the area last weekend. I will try and get 'em posted here. Even with Memorial Day, there was still alot of room. We arrived Saturday and got one of the few campsites in the trees.
We saw a number of Springers rolling (giving us the Fin! )between Barrier Dam and Blue Creek. The boondogginfreedrifters were doing fairly well around the Cabin Hole. We only saw one fish picked up in the 3 or 4 hours we were standing on Anderson Bar.
I think I will be down there late Thursday for a Friday Drift. I'll bring my Oyster knife and look for you Friday.

Gooose and Gutz, (hey, that sounds kinda catchy doesn't it?)
Are we still planning to do a cleanup? If so, I can dispose of a large pickup load of trash the following Monday.
Still no turkey fryer available? I have a Turkey to fry and one I will smoke. (no, I am not referring to my hubby) Oh, and those stoopid shrimp.
4 PM for the Saturday BBQ sounds like a good time to me.

I won't be able to make the Saturday or Sunday fish but I am planning on fishing on Friday. If anyone is going to be there on Friday look for a white Harbercraft and say hi. Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Yes Auntie, I think we should make at least one sweep through the parking lot and campsites. If there are some Bank Mag/// er, fisherman, perhaps they could pickup down around Blue Creek. Maybe someone could haul it backup on a sled? The parking lot/camping area wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.
Any interest in a smoked fish judging? I know I make the best, but I am always willing to try others.

The pattern for the last couple weeks has been to drop it down Friday Night and then back up during the week. Two weeks is too far out to predict. Everything is running high.

The water going down on the weekends and the fish going off the bite is nothing new for Springer fishing the Cowlitz. Back in the early 70's they did the same thing. You could watch the rocks along the shore and see it go down.

mmmmmmm ribs! Hey there's no way to predict water conditions or the bite...there's never a guarantee on either even within a 24 hour period as Gooose and FJ learned when I invited him up to fish the Worlds Stickiest River last winter. I'm there mainly to have some fun and will make the best of what is served me. Sheesh we even got a poll goin on this one !

Forget it then man, sheez, I thought we were guaranteed fish!
Still going though, If I can Pimp a Ride........ while there,; If I have to bank it in combat zone, will probably go to different river nearby.

I just secured a kitchen pass for day 2 of the event, to most likely bear witness to whatever is left of you all after Saturday nights festivities.
If I have to bank it I certainly will, but if someone needs some cracker-ass entertainment in their boat I'd be happy to provide. I'll even let you ask me all kinds of stupid computer questions and give you honest answers. Who else around here could give you that? Exactly. I'm a valuable asset!
