Anchor River???
      #146134 - 11/11/04 11:34 AM

Just checking to see if anyone has a report on the Anchor. The waterflow charts show the water lever rising. How's the color Angellette? Have you been down to look at it lately?

Anchor River is frozen up pretty good around the edges and the water level has gone up a great deal due to the warm weather snow melt and rain.

went over the bridge today, behind the anchor river inn, and the the ice is breaking up on it, but still not enough room to fish it, the ice is bunching up together in small canals, and I am sure by the end of the weekend, the thing will be all iced over again, just like it was last weekend. no one fishing it, the parking lots till has snow on it, and maybe 3-4 tire tracks going thru it, so one really has attempted to fish it, I usually go over the river every other day, and i have not seen any action down there, but the ice breaking up....

sorry guys

Anchor River Report new [Re: COLDNORTHPOLE]
      #146273 - 11/11/04 07:09 PM

Here is a report on the anchor river from a friend who fished there on 11/1

"REPORT: BRRRRRR. Fished from 7:30-3:30. My brother hooked one steelhead above the forks, broke off cause reel was frozen solid. I landed one about 24", turned another one. We caught a ton of dollies, biggest around 24-25 inches, actually had a little weight to it. Most were skinny. Temperature stayed in low 20's all day... high of about 25. Slush in all the riffles on the bottom, and floating on top pretty heavy by afternoon. We got to the river Sunday night, had 45 minutes to fish before pitch black.. landed a 29" hen, 3 dollies. Well, only 7 months till Memorial Day- may be the soonest I'll be able to fish it again."

The temp has been over freezing since Tuesday. With forcasts for high 30s low 40s for Friday. And as Anglette mentioned "the ice breaking up....". Water levels are rising slightly and as long the water color holds there should fish for the hearty.

Anglette, I don't think I'll be making the drive this weekend. None of my buddies can go this weekend and I could only fish on Saturday. But, if the water is open when I get back from the Thanksgiving holiday I will fish the river with you.

Went over the river today, the water level has dropped, and the ice is nicely dissapearing, saw some people wading in the river, so that means "IT IS FISHABLE", I am gonna try the river this Saturday, on the beach side, do some catch and release, and photo ops, LOL Gonna learn the tricks to river fishing.....

BRRRRRRRRRRR!

We had a couple inches here last week, but it only lasted a day and has been back up into the 40's.

Is the Anchor River Inn still open?

Thanks for sharing the pictures!
