HELP GREG! Fake fish painting new
      #97055 - 01/22/04 08:46 AM

Hey Greg
I read your piece on building a replica steelhead and was so inspired I decided I had to give it a try. After ordering a blank, airbrush and some misc. supplies I started reading posts on Taxidermy.com. I may have undertaken a real project here! I was wondering if you might be able to enlighten me on a few questions?

Are you priming and sealing the blank after the touch ups, eyes and fins? If so, what do you suggest I use?
Are you using water-based paints (Hydromist, Life tones, etc.)?
Do you spray a gloss coat between color/detail applications?
What do you use for a final gloss/wet coat?
Might you have a Steelhead paint schedule you would be willing to divulge?

Any help would be much appreciated as this painting thing really has me a little concerned.
Thanks-
Jeff (Riptide)

Your probably done with this project but.

I would primer first, so the other materials will stick better.
I am using laquer paints made by polytranspar.
You can gloss between details to add depth to your details.
