I fished the Clearwater this weekend and watched a boat absolutly slauther them. I talked to them that night at the motel and they boated 39. 17 of those where nates and that's not counting the ones they lost. I watched this boat all day long and everytime we drifted by they had one on and sometimes two. There biggest keeper was a 18 pound hen that woundn't fit in there fish box. Bet she had skeins the size of my leg. I would've cleaned them for the eggs but they looked pretty dark.

How many people were on that boat, isn't there a limit, even at two a piece thats 19 people and change?

It's 3 a day on the Clearwater and the where C&R'n them. There where 3 on board. That gives them 9 in the box. This is the same spot Grizz got 11 fish in 11 drifts and Denali and I spanked them a few weeks earlier.

loner no biggy.... So to answer the question yes a day like is not only possible but common. They have to run up the Snake to get to the Clearwater. 10-15 pound fish are average with 15+ pound fish being common and 15-20lb fish being nothing of a surprise.

My biggest to date was a 18lb nate hen caught above Mcnary with FearNoFish. I wish I wouldn't have deleted the photo because I'd show you what Southfork looks like when he is about ready to piss his pants

It was a B-Run no doubt

Couldn't we target these fish in the Snake as they come through Washington?? Is there a spot that could be as good??

Tally,
Remember the lower Snake and upper Columbia have alot more water. Those that do target Steelies for the most part start a John Day and then Mcnary and on up from there. I doubt you'll see these kinds of numbers but I know for a fact that FearNoFish has seen 10 plus nights above Mcnary. The Umatilla Sheriffs Department has all but ruined that area for night fishing by moving the bouys way out from the dam. Now it's like fishing for a needle in a hay stack. FearNoFish had that place dialed in and I venture to say thier isn't another person on this planet that could match his numbers there. As I said before my biggest todate was a 18 pound native hen caught above Mcnary using a lighted Kwik fish. She was as chrome as they come and you can bet she was an Idaho B-run. That's one fish for a good 20 hours of fishing.

Sf,
I've been in the Palouse a few years ago bird hunting and you are right, a lot of big slow water. I had my duck boat then and saw some guys in a duckworth with plug rods running up the river and wondered. They were probably bird hunting too and the rods always stayed in the boat.
Guess I'm gona have to make a trip to the Clearwater.
