39 inch, 29 lb sefforellen brown trout, taken trolling from a Wisconsin port last week. What a beast !!
They are out there, Wisconsin has a large brown stocking program.

Those WI cheesehead winter lake front trollers have lots of antifreeze in them beleive me, if you know what I mean.
There killing the browns right now in the close open water and the ice over river mouths ice fishing. Saw WI outdoor show this weekend filmed last week, they must of caught 10 nice browns on skein in 5 hours of fishing

Here's an "oxymoron" for you - lakefront fishing is "heating up". Boy that looks cold.
That is a real beaut. See alot of 16-20 pounders caught from shore [vicinty of the mouth of the Milwaukee/Menominee River] - my biggest so far is 16. We have a nice 25 trophy mount caught by my late father several years ago while trolling off-shore. Great fishery.

I fished out of Two Rivers a couple of times several years ago & got into some big browns one day, the biggest being about 20 pounds. That 29'er coulda ate it, though!

That may be true, but it doesn't compare to catching BIG browns on their upstream migration in the Lake O. Tribs with fly rod and flies!!!
Now, THAT'S real action. I tried to invite BG to join me a couple of years ago, and he STILL hasn't shown up. Just a couple of "cock and bull" stories of how he knows the hotspots (several of which are POSTED).
His loss, I guess!

Yes Bobk, please show us some of those pictures of those big Ontario browns caught in the feeders on flys, and make sure the backgrounds are still in the pictures so us western GLs fellows can figure out what streams they were caught on. LOL
WI has an excellent Brown Trout fishery best on Lake Michigan of any of the states. IN has just started a new brown stocking program.
They catch a couple of 30 lbers each year in WI waters.
Here is a cute comments on the big brown thread from the GLs Angler board this picture and story is on. Imagine how many alewifes this brown ate over its life time ?
"I just received a priority fax from LMAA ( Lake Michigan Alewives Anonymous) For immediate release:
Gents and Madames: It is truly a great day to be an alewife! The infamous Butcher of Bender was officially caught and NOT released by an angler known only as Spanky. This vile and devastating brown trout has been known to devour up to 200 of our brethren each and every day, without recourse. A grass roots effort to save our heritage from our friends at GLA seems to be working. Support them whenever you can by helping keep the marinas ice-free, as these fine folks have become our friends. Only with their help can we truly hope to recover.
Yours in zooplankton and micro-shrimp,
Alan the Alewife
President Lake Michigan Alewives Anonymous LLC"

GLs Brown Trout
next US record Brown trout is probably out cruising in the GLs somewheres. These are very difficult fish to catch in these inland oceans.

That is the Oak Creek power plant. A coal burning plant, no nuke power there. I believe he caught it on a crankbait, trolling it off a walleye inline board. We have what I believe is one of the best Brown Trout fisheries in the world here in Milwaukee area. From late December to April. Fish for fun, fish for food, or just plain fish.
