Semi successful elk hunt.
      #163260 - 01/16/05 08:40 PM

I headed over to eastern Washington to look for elk, and I found them. Unfortunately they were all on the wrong side of the elk fence. Anyway, I got to use my new camera and the 10X zoom lense. Saw a few mulies out there as well.

Cool pics Andy, is that Oakcreek? I went over Whitepass for the first time last winter and it was truely amazing...I'd like to go back and visit the feeding station. See anything on the legal side?

Cool pictures Andy, you should of call'd me. I could have maybe gotten you some different access for elk, or taken you Coyote huntin.....I only live 20 minutes from Oak Creek.

The Elk were @ Oak Creek, I drive past there everytime I head to the Cow.
It's never a relaxing drive for me from Naches to Morton on HWY 12 in the wee hours of the morning, with these dudes standing along side and in the middle of the road.

If you didn't know the WDFW feeds Elk @ Oak Creek, Mt Clemens and in the Wenas valley in the winter to keep them out of the farmers winter wheat fields and apple orchards.

My hunting area is next to Oak Creek and the Wenas fields in the Yakima area. There is another large area near that runs from Easton to the Kittitas valley. The huge herd was in the Wenas area. I can only shoot elk that are not inside the elk fence. Kind of hit or miss. The mule deer were in the Ellensburg area on the edge of the valley, but I saw a number of Mule deer on the drive over the Manashtash ridge.

RR, I'll have to keep you in mind for next year (this August) as that was the last time I could get over there this season. I have another tag that opens up on this side on February 1st.
