What are they fishing for?
      #167299 - 02/03/05 06:18 PM

I took a drive down to Homer last weekend.
On my way down through Cooper Landing I noticed that the Kenai River at the mouth of the lake was flowing pretty good and there was a bunch of people out fishing. They don't get Steelies up that far do they??

The river was flowing really nice without any ice or anything all the way down to the point where the russian comes in at the ferry crossing.

There were bald eagles everywhere. Born and raised up here and never seen so many of them all over the Cooper Landing area.

There fishing for cabin fever rainbows. You can catch quite a few with the right patterns. I would be heading down this month if it wernt for the whole wedding thing If you go use a really light colored flesh fly of muddler of some sort. I have a maribou flesh that works well. If its flesh it has to look like its been there a while.

hmm, I would take a drive down there but I too am getting married. Must be that time of the year.

I'll have to try and get down there though. The fishing must be pretty decent if that many people were doing it.

Thanks Eric.

Marlin Fishing??? WOW. She sounds like a keeper.
I have seen some pictures of her on here catching some nice fish. You probably wont have to talk her into it too hard. Looks like she enjoys fishing pretty well

Thanks Chinook!

I would hope so especially if you're gonna be there for 3 weeks, what else would you do with all that time...... oh never mind

Where you stayin, we stayed at the Kea Lani for ours.

On a side note, just curious did your guys' brides end up getting a cold or anything on the honeymoons? My wife did. Had heard with all the stress and adrenalin that when they finally get a chance to relax they get sick.
