How was your Waterfowl and Upland Season? new
      #167554 - 02/04/05 02:39 PM

How'd you guy's do this year? Where were you hunting mostly?

I didn't hunt ducks that much this year. Seen alot when I did go out. Goose hunting was awesome in Central Washington. It doesn't hurt to have buddies that own a bunch of different fields with pits on them though either.

The pheasant hunting seemed pretty good too. Not as good of a quail year for me this year but I didn't hunt my usual haunts for them either.

Pheasant was so-so for me, Quail was about average, had some awesome days Quail hunting, and some days that were tough. Chukar population was doing well this year, we were still running across a lot of birds late in the year, mainly in Yakima canyon area, only bad thing about it is you have some big hills to climb to get to them, good thing is once you get up there not too much competition.

Pheasant and quail numbers were good over here again this year. I did not see many huns however. I only went duck hunting three times but had three good shoots. I passed on all geese this year, just don't like to eat them.... at all. Got a few incidental chukar while hunting pheasants down along the Snake.

I only hunted ducks and grouse. Early season grouse hunting in the Sub-Alpine Olympics was better than usual for ruffs. Saw at least 8 birds per outing.

Ducks in the Chehalis basin. Was uber-good during and after that real cold stretch in January. The rest of the time I fished. I didn't have much luck on the coast this year (Grays Harbor), which is normally much more productive for me.
