DIYnet.com

They don't list a plan for a duck blind, but the North Dakota State University Extension Service has quite a few out building plans in their list that you can get drawings for in PDF files free. NDSU

Doc floating blinds are a pain in the butt depending upon what you want. We've used decked over 14 john boats covered in burlap and canary reed grass for years to comfortably hunt saltwater bays and sloughs. Those dimensions worked great with 2 hunters and can hunt 3 plus a dog. Something similar might be what you are looking for. Fixed plywood box blinds are also an option where some flooding occurs or for dryland sunken blinds. I've quite a few years experience setting up both and can probably break away for a day to look where you want to set them up.

Doc, you should try and contact some duck clubs and draw up your plans. I know that Greenhead Inc. in Monte has great floating blinds. We could comfortably hunt 5 with a dog they had lights, shelving, a comfortable bench and viewing out of each side (incl. back). They also had a dog ramp on hinges that changed elevations with the floods.

The thing to pay attention to is getting the right amount of floatation spread out. I.e. the base of the blind needs to be about 2X as wide as the part you sit in to give it stability in the water, or you can anchor it well to the bottom, resisting overturning. I would consider making sure it was wide enough that it wouldn't overturn before trying to anchor it to the bottom. The connection to the bottom is pretty suspect. Make sure the blind will be balanced when people are standing on all the different places.

One more option is to use poles (telephone or other) and let the blind float up and down on them. This will provide stablity and give you more options for floatation, i.e. 55 gallon drums welded shut or foam.

Most clubs will probably let you take a look at their blinds when out of season.
