I want to build a new set of Knee Braces for the front of my drift boat but I cant decide on what type of wood to use? any input?

Marine grade plywood would work well. Reasonably priced compared to solid hardwoods.
If you want solid hardwood: What is your budget? (12/4 stock is not cheap) What type of material is your drift boat made out of? (match the wood to the boat)

Its ALuminum, but some parts are wood. Its an older boat so I kindof want to keep it the same. Im not to concerned about the budget. I think I would rather use HArd wood.

Ok I built the braces laminating two Clear cedar 4x4's trurned out pretty good. Now the big question is what to seal it with after I stain it. Should I use something like Man of war Varnish?
