Actually, Ive been here 2 years and have NOT had more than 2 Mosquito bites. Seems like they are no longer a problem here?

Anyways....

Finally landed a nice Eye, this one's going on the wall. Where was He during the Bluewater touney?! Exactly 29" , not sure on the #'s, my scale is dead. Not recommending those Rapala Digitals, 2nd one that has went out on me.

I caught this fella around 7 tonight, after about 6 straight cast of catching 12" ers.

Good Day, won my football pool and got the biggest Walleye of my life. Any recommendations on a Taxidermist. I was going to check out Mirror Image tomorrow.

Chad.

We have bugs but you just gotta put on the bug dope. It keeps them away.
Plus, not all places up here have bad mosquitoes. Further north you go, the more mosquitoes there is.

Like Gary Roach told me years ago when he did a seminar here. "The next world record Walleye will come from the Columbia River". There are so many 10+ lb. Walleyes in that river it's scary.
By the way, I was born in southern Minn. (Spring Valley)and started my Bass and Walleye fishing there. Some of the best Smallmouth fishing in the world is in the GL's.

T.H. I still remember blasting through the corn fields on what they called "roads" in an old Plymoth Belvedere with my wife's 84 year old g'ma at the wheel....on our way to Conger (I think) to get some summer sausage......what a ride!
We will be heading back to Minn. next year for a family reunion...any suggestions on where I should fish for walleye north of Minneapolis???

Dave,
I haven't fished in Minn. since I was a little kid. I would suggest contacting Chad or some of the other great lakes area guys. I would like to catch some White Bass or Northerns, neat fish.

It is still February and the Columbia at Umatilla is still below 40 degrees, but the Walleye are moving toward the spawning beds. I have landed 8 in the last 3 trips. All over 22" up to the largest of 36". I have counted up to 40 boats in a day. Most are fishing silver blade baits or using jigs. I have caught my fish on home-made worm harnesses fished behind a 2 to 3 oz bottom walker. Now is the time to get out your river fish-n-map and find a spawning bed near you. It is only going to get better for the next couple of months.

30" to 36" walleyes are not that rare here. In one day we boated 4 8's 2 10's and a 14 lbs and a bunch of 16"ers on the columbia.that was 10 years ago but it can still be done.

It still happens today on the Columbia and also Potholes is another good shot at 10+ lb. Walleye. We get several early in the year, back in the dunes, while we are fishing Bass.

Wayne,
Hook your boat to the truck and head for the river....It was 36", and still out there. I took a couple that had never fished walleye last weekend. He cuaght and kept his first walleye of 30", measured by the biologist at the landing. His wife took home her first at 22". It is slow fishing, but the fish are large

The water hasn't warmed any, however a few good walleye are being caught at the river marker #62 just outside the Irrigon boat launch, In the drift directly across the river from Irrigon, Above the primative boat launch on the Oregon side down river 1/2 mile from Irrigon, In the hole on the Washington side across from the elevator down stream from Irrigon. On both sides of the ridge above Big Blalock Island. I have started to pick up a few fish below the John Day Dam below Preacher's Eddy. Most are being caught on Whistler Jigs with Chartreuse plastic tail and a night crawler, or silver blade baits.
