OK all of you who offered, here is a chance to show your colors:

First Sergeant Rob Noyes and his Soldiers of the 29th Signal BN just got back from Iraq in January. If you want to offer a trip or trips, he can be reached at:

e-mail: rlnoyes@excite.com

Thanks for showing your appreciation to our Servicemen and women
I'm still waiting to hear from the Sergeant Major of the Stryker Brigade (CSM Du) who also recently returned. (3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division)

This is a great idea and would be very appreciated. I just got back from the Deployment on Lincoln and accessed the site as much as possible just to keep up with what was going on. It provided a nice 'link to home' while I was handing out rice and water to tsunami victims instead of fishing and being home with the family.
Thanks for the support and the site...If you can't be home, it's great to read about what's going on at home.

I think this is a WONDERFUL IDEA!! Usually stick to my 'fly fishing forum(s),' but this one is a dandy. Live in Ashland, Oregon so the upper Rogue River is 30 minutes from the front door.

Count me in (side bar: I'm retired, so 'timing of a trip' usually isn't critical)

I returned in feb from the middle east but was treated to a sweet trip on the nooch' with AKkings along with musicman. Didn't catch jack but music landed a large hen. Overall a great drift except I almost forgot my vest when we had to push Ak's DB over a bar. Once again thanks AKkings for nice float!

We got any military equipment shots with our stick on them? How about some photos of our troops getting a chance to go fishing? Would like to see us spread the word with some of the local papers if anybody has connections. Lets take care of these guys and get the word out. Don't want the effort to die off on this great welcome home.

Below is what was put out on Ft Lewis by CSM Kevin Lemon, the Garrison CSM:
ALL,

Below is a GREAT offer for some of your/our Soldiers returning from theaters of operation (Iraq & Afghanistan). Basically they are offering a free guided fishing trip! Heck of a deal! The Steelheader.net family is mostly made up of veterans who want to thank our Soldiers for their sacrifices by making this offer.

I know we have a lot of deserving Soldiers, who really would enjoy this opportunity... Just asking that you spread the word to them.

Additionally, please note the offer to get some really neat looking stickers for members of your unit... Especially if they're currently deployed!!

Bottom line: I've fished with a bunch of these guys... They're good, safe, and have a good time. The POC is SGM Mike Kurtz at MAMC. His Edress is above, and his phone number is 968-1718. Please spread the word.
v/r
CSM Lemon

This is what I got back in two days, I have more on my home PC:

SGT Blaine Gibson:
blaine gibson home ph# [253]964-8347 unit ph# [253]967-7144 e- mail mt_man1268@hotmail.com i will be on leave from 17 june until 31 june

SGT Casey andrew.n.casey@us.army.mil
I look forward to the fishing. I will find out specific dates for my friends and let you know. My contact number is 253-576-3050.
Also, who would I contact about getting the stickers so I can display them and mail some to my buddies. Thanks, SGT Casey ( he has two buddies coming back soon for R&R)

SGM Brown
michael.allen.brown@us.army.mil
I have just returned from Iraq and have been re-assigned as the G3 SGM for I Corps. It was wierd recieving this email because my wife just last night suddenly out of no where said she wants to go fishin! I have been deployed two of the last three years in a war zone and have 28 years in the Army. We would like to throw a line in and relax.

OK guys, let's help them out! THANKS!!!
