DaBrow thanks for joining up and helping out! We may have to ask for more donations for stickers for our troops! Not a problem with this community. Oh and thank you for being there for us! If you ever want to go for some Hood Canal crab this summer or silvers this Fall let me know.

Sounds like a plan. My Daughter and I want some silvers and the wife wants the Dungees. My girl caught a 12lb silver down by the mouth of the Skok last year and a couple of years ago (she was 7) hooked into a big king and lost it. She has the bug.

I hate to sound sappy but it's really great to see that the majority of the population on this board is helping and supporting the troops. I'd love to thank each and everyone of you for what you are doing. What you folks are doing really does mean a lot to the folks you are doing it for. I might be some piddly E-4 but I'm not blind. Thanks a lot to everyone.

P.S.
Good job putting out the word SGM.

Ain't no such thing as a piddly E-4. You guys do the work, and make us Senior NCO's look good. Most important guys in my shop are the lowest ranking. I take the best care of them too, they know where my bread is buttered.

Ash, no apologies necessary for voicing your thoughts. Consider that some, like myself, suffered the public indignities and indifferences as Viet Nam vets, while others are either vets from other conflicts, or witnessed what occurred in the past. Hopefully we're all united in a common cause...to see that this never happens again, and that our armed forces receive the respect and support that they deserve for the sacrefices they make on our behalf and the rights of others. You didn't make the decisions behind these events, but you are prepared to accept the challenge and duty that makes our country and freedom so charished.

As others have stated, there is no such thing as a "piddly E-4" or any other rank for that matter. That's what I came home as after 14 months in Nam. Even though I was offered commissions. I, and other vets know how much work it takes to attain grade, and you can be proud of yours as was I when I came home. You all make me proud.

The SGM is a special person, as they all are. They are at the top of their class [NCO's] which is no small achievement. They are in a command role which allows them to do much for the enlisted men and women, and I have never met one that didn't take that responsibility to heart. I have a lot of respect for these people and the role they serve in.

If army is anything like AF, E4 is that stepping stone grade. You are starting to become a leader, but yet still learning. You will be looked to by your superiors to train the e1,2 and 3s. You may even train higher ranks that cross train into your career field. Don't look at it as the "PIDDLY E4" Look as it as just another rank closer to being Sergeant Major.

I guess the "piddly E-4" comment came out wrong, I did not, in anyway, mean it to be a complaint or an indignation. I was just trying to express that even as lower enlisted soldiers we can see the big picture that all of you great people are painting for us, and I've not heard of a person that is not grateful for the support that you folks provide. I'm very sorry if that comment offended anybody, It was not intended to.

I took a Navy guy out fishin Jeff Head today, his name is James Foster, hooked up with him at i-boats.com, met him first time this morning at Shilshole, we hooked and got to the boat a nice King but it had too many fins and was released unharmed, I did get a picture but it was not a digital camera and I do not know how to post pictures, we took it while the fish was still in the water, then released it, it had to go at least 15-18 lbs, purty fish, got me all excited, did'nt get another bite the rest of the day. It was a nice day tho weather wise, and I got to do my part and take one of our fightin men fishin, we gonna go agin.

Back from Iraq yesterday new [Re: CastawayChris]
      #197781 - 07/28/05 01:14 PM

The husband of one of my employees just got back from Iraq yesterday and he is dying to go fishing. He is an avid Salmon/Steelhead guy. Anybody gonna have an open seat available in the near future? After all that sand, this guy needs some time on the water. Post or PM me if you are willing to take him.
Also, after Aug. 1 the "Trouthead Bank Stomping Adventures for the Military" start for any and all that are interested.

Loner and Fish4Steel, PM's sent

This guy will be going back to Iraq on the 18th. of this month. If nothing else happens, I'm taking him bank stomping on Saturday. He has been looking for Kings in the Puyallup and I know that it's really slow down there so far. He hasn't had a hit yet, anybody got any ideas for a fish?

Hi everyone,
This site is great, alot of useful info. I was wondering a buddy of mine and I were trying to do some salmon/steelhead fishing before heading back to Iraq in Nov for our 2nd tour, we returned in Jan of 05 from our 1st. I have tried fishing the puyallup with no success and am not really sure where else to go. I was hoping someone could help us out with becoming more skilled at taking on this amazing fishery. Thanks in advance for any advice. AJ

Lets be honest about the military being the best.. It CAN at some points in your life help you and guide you to a better furture. For me 5 years is enough, I will have to deal with extreme pain for the rest of my life and the MILITARY is not really sure whats wrong with me. O well I can still fire up the sled and go fishing.

I wish y'all had offered this when I was in the middle east! But, I really like what you guys are doing. But to be honest, the best thing you can ever do, is to find out a unit that is overseas and send a care package to an anonoymous troop. When I was over there, I got a card from someone I didn't know and it was really awesome.

Perhaps sending a fishing/car mag, a short letter, and maybe some non-perishable candy/jerky or whatever. I guarantee that it will make that soldier's day
