Hooked three spring kings on my 'new' intermed. and full sink spey lines ... these hummers really do work. That said ... it was NO CONTEST when the fish desided to see just exactly how long a spey line really is.

Two of the three went 'airborne,' as sure sign it's over, just the 'when' of it.

Good job hooking up Fred. I too got my butt kicked yesterday by a couple of springers on the Sandy. Could have used a Spey rod at this spot, working the far current seam of a fast water chute and no back cast room.

What flies worked for you?

If you can believe it .... two were hooked on 'good old' puff ball egg patterns, the third was on a 'shrimp' pattern.

"full sink spey lines" whats next a slinky to get the fly down swiftly ? Better try 20lb test maxima at least for a leader on those big springers.
