King salmon fishing at Ship Creek has slowed down a bit, but fishing remains good to very good. The flood tides still producing the best catches. Remember: Ship Creek closes to all fishing from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Fishing must stop for the day at 11:00 p.m., and cannot begin until 6:00 a.m. The youth-only king salmon fishery on Campbell Creek this weekend should produce a few nice fish. Campbell Creek is high and muddy now, due to rain, but the weather forecast looks good.
Resident Fish Campbell Creek and Chester Creek remain your best options in town for rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Both streams have been stocked with rainbows but conditions are poor right now due to recent rains. Chester Creek seems to be clearer than Campbell Creek. The upstream reaches of Campbell Creek are clearer than the downstream reaches. If you fish anywhere in the Campbell Tract from Lake Otis upstream, expect to encounter bears, so be prepared. See the bear safety link below for helpful information.
Lake Fishing The second round of lake stocking is taking place this week. Try Jewel Lake, Lake Otis, and Delong Lake in the evening for good fishing. Rabbit Lake will be stocked with catchable-sized rainbow trout today. This lake is a nice backcountry fishing experience right in our own backyard. This lake also over-winters some nice fish, so anglers may luck into some 18-inch plus rainbows. To find out how to get to Rabbit Lake check out the lake maps link below. To find out if your favorite lake has been stocked go to the helpful Internet links listed below and look for lake stocking. This website is updated each week (usually by Thursday) with type and size of fish stocked.
Northern Pike The evening and early morning hours continue to be the best time to catch pike. Cheney and Lower Fire lakes have produced some nice pike catches
