Is it me or are the silver numbers extremely low for this time of year??
I have a friend who works down on the sonar in Kenai and they have had a big ZERO number of silvers come through.
Last year we had extremely LOW water levels in the valley and I am wondering if that is having anything to do with such low numbers of silvers coming through the matsu streams so far this year....
Anybody have any insite on this???

Last year's fish aren't gonna make this year's run, so I don't think that's it. It's only August 2nd; be patient.
I wanna know when (if) the Bird stocking program will restart. I'd much rather play in that mud than Ship mud.

Doin'. Been out more in the past couple of weeks than all summer.
The missus and I floated the Kenai a couple weeks back between red runs. We blasted past the confluence and most of the rainbows, but Dolly fishing was excellent. Discovered the Wildman vehicle shuttle from Sportsmans to Jims costs less than running either of our other two vehicles down there.
Got up north of Talkeetna for a little wheeling and fishing with a friend who was up...guess that was two weeks ago. Caught a few grayling, but my buddy was more interested in seeing what buckshot would do to a hard drive, so we got the truck good and stuck getting to an out of the way place to shoot. Ruined another winch cable in the process.
Spent a couple nights on Rainbow Channel about a week ago. Murdered reds and caught trout and dollies hand over fist for two days. Good time, especially watching my buddy's face as he realized he was trapped on an island with 3 prison guards and 2 rednecks for the next couple of days (he's a white-collar type from RI now).
Hit Bird last Monday, beat up pinks til I lost the four hooks I brought.
Smoked some of the aforementioned reds over a couple days.
Then back to the Kenai Saturday for some more reds & got chased a quarter mile by a black bear. Damn sneaky thing wouldn't leave us be. We'd yell and steer it away then back down the trail, and inside five minutes it'd stick it's head out of the grass 20 feet away again. It was ok, though. I made my buddy carry the stringer.
That's about the size of July. Now vacation's over, I'm back at work & it sucks.

BE patient its way too early for silvers on the kenai. I saw quite a few caught at the mouth of willow this weekend. Give it 2 more weeks and they wil be everywhere

Hey KK, how's the hand? The silvers will be here in the next couple weeks good and heavy, right now it's a little early for the big slugs of fish. CNP, watch for those pesky bears on the Russian this weekend. They chased us all over last weekend. I kept running into one on the boardwalk everytime I tried to go up or down river.
